OK, what did you get as car-related pressies?

I have half a FIat 126 - the wife has the other half - but as she doesn't know her left from her right - it's obviously all mine!

I got a work bench - so guess what I am doing tomorrow! Yes, a garage day -installing it

I also have £100 to spend at Machine Mart - Vat Free day on 4 January!

So I think it'll be a pillar drill to put on the workbench at the opposite end from the nice quick release Record vice I bought for £35 brand new at a car boot sale ages ago.

Socket set off my lad!

I bought the present earlier myself, almost shite, a BMW E34 520i 24V, very Christmasy 'Islandgrün', beige interior! Drove to church yesterday with the sunroof completely open! :)

Best present from my sister, a copy of Andre Citroen, Engineer, Explorer, Entrepreneur by John Reynolds, should keep me quiet for a while.

Best present to both Mrs DSdriver and myself, A jigsaw puzzle made from a photograph of us standing next to the Safari and DS Pallas. Mrs DSdriver is doing the edge pieces, I will wait until there is about six pieces left and then sneek in and finish it off, claiming it is all my own work.

Present to myself, a NOS set of lock barrels and keys for the Safari.

Nowt. :-) Which was nice. Makes a change.

I did, however, get Rubens Barrichello's autobiography from eight years ago for my birthday.. Which was class.

One of my favourite gifts was a small stocking filler, a Watneys red barrel key ring :D I also got complete Minder and Sweeney box sets and Shoestring series one.

This is my collection, My first airfix kit!, a car calendar which feature some pretty decent stuff (not as good as the AS calendar though!), a The Look at life dvd (thanks Vin!) a car wash kit.

Also a Bigtrax!, Yes that toy from the 80's which everyone wanted has been re-released again, you punch in a 16 digit command and watch it follow your instructions, which is pretty cool and I also got a very nice Canon external flash for my 450D which I'm still learning how to use.

I've built lots of those Escorts. Not a bad kit to start with; certainly easier than the MGB or TR4A in the same series, as they can be rather fiddly. If you're really careful with the glue, you should be able to assemble the wheels so they will rotate. I'd advise painting as much as possible while the parts are still in the sprues. Some will be impossible to get at when you've built it. Oh and if you want some inspiration....

Andreas would be flattered to know someone was modelling his car!

supercar calendar off my Bro in law - No Tagoras in it though

Lots of car tomes, mostly from the States.

Chrysler's Turbine Car - Steve Lehto

Tales Of A Muscle Car Builder - Martyn L Schorr

The Cobra In The Barn - Tom Cotter

Then, on non - Septic affairs:

Tiff Gear - Tiff Needell

Cars Of Eastern Europe - Andy Thomson

I also bought Wim Oude Weernink's La Lancia at the NEC Classic as a present to myself. It's bloody excellent, as it should be for 70 shells. I suspect this will set my book price record for some time.

I'm planning on pawing through most of these today and tomorrow - while I get better, occasionally stopping to eat some soup.

Hard to tell, but that does look more like the Fiat graphic than Talbot on the grille...
