Anyone get the chance to watch this (ITV4, Channel 24)?

All plod footage from 1989-93 - Senators and Rover 827's chasing stolen Carltons, Mark 3 Scorts, Rover SD1's etc - ace stuff!

Is this the one narrated by the bloke who was on the Bill?

Always good to see a Rover 800 chasing a Metro!

LOVE this show. It's on all the time. There was an epic Mark 1 Mondeo chase the other day. Then a stolen Metro GTi where the passenger held a pit bull out of the open door at about 40 MPH to try and scare the police.

Brilliant for shite spotting.

Yup, PC Tony Stamp.

Got this on tape, purchased a couple of copies from a charidee shop. The pitbull chase was epic, loved the commentry from the furious coppers.

There was a chase I've seen a few times involving a road duel between a Mk1 Rover Sterling, Mk1 Renault Espace and a Mini, they all got pulled over, but I've not seen this chase again since.

I earwiged on a very enlightening conversation back in the day. A Traffic cop ( Essex) was talking to his neighbour about his job. He reckoned the Rover 827 was a shite pursuit car, he went on to describe how, on one chase, they had mega problems trying to keep up with an Orion Injection.

His great praise, tho, went to the Senator, he reckoned they were absolute boss as Traffic cars and his mate and he, one very dark night going round the M25, managed to get 153 MPH out of one...

I suppose he could have been bullshitting.

I remember seeing a West Riding Leyland Olympian jump the level crossing at Castleford. Driver got sacked and banned if I remember. The ministry threw the book at em!

I've got these on video too. Only problem is I don't have a video recorder anymore :(

(I bought them when they were new... )

That sounds shitetastic! Do tell us if you come across it!

I remember the "Special" they did with TWO SD1 V8s carrying a human organ into West London, for a transplant patient. They battled from the top of the M25 and all the way past Buck House etc, to the Hospital, only for some COCK to be blocking the "KEEP CLEAR" bit across the entrance. Fantastic soundtrack to that one.

There was a class one on one of those Sky channels that keeps freezing/jumping due the amount of repeats a few months back. Iirc they were escorting something to a hospital in London in an SD1 and the passing traffic was a chod filled heaven.

In twenty years time we'll probably get all misty eyed about Carl and Pat 'giving it legs' after someone who's bailed out of a Mk2 Astra.

That clip is on Youtube somewhere. SD1 tastic. Was a liver. Transported from Stanstead airport slap bang into London at lunchtime

That vid has WIn all over it! Pure chod, even the plod are in chod!

Its a great show narrated by Graham Cole, the episode that always seems to be on ITV4 when I see it is the one with the Swan on the motorway. Theres a good ep where they show a Renault 5 (MKI) with all the steel showing in the tyre, a rusted Mini held together with string and a MKIII Cortina belting out thick smoke.

Is it Road Wars or Police Camera Action where the police pull over a rotten VW Scirocco?

I remember everyone standing outside wWhat i think was Andy's Records in Meadowhall at the time watching it on a tv screen when it first came out, don't think there been anything

showing that sort of stuff before it?

Yesterday there was a clip of a Mark 1 Granada where a back wheel fell off, and an Alfa GTV rear ended a lorry.

I have to say that in my misspent Youth I've been in the back of an E28 528i cop car, an SD1 and -get this - a 2 door Austin 1100 panda car. Can anyone beat that?

Running out of gas in my first A40, somewhere up the top end of the M53, and getting driven all over Wallasey until we found an all-night petrol station*.... in one of Merseyside's pale-blue Panda-livery Mk1 Transits, as modelled currently by Vanguards. That any good?

About 4 years later I experienced what that Granada driver did, when a rear wheel dropped off my white Hunter and bounced along the road, overtaking me!

*This was 1978, they weren't as rife as they are now. Also, it was nearly midnight, and a weekend.

Impressive.

Most impressive. :D

The one that got pulled for no insurance, with the MOT tester driving it? That was Road Wars.

X-Cars, that was good too. I recall them having no end of grief with a MK5 RS2000

Oh yes, X Cars! I remember that being fun; well most of this stuff was. I still have VHS, so I reckon I should be in the local charity shops.

Anyone remember Breakdown Buddies? It was the absolute king for shite spotting - because it was basically a program based on shite breaking down!

There was a great old edition of the Graham Cole-narrated one where some bloke goes tearing past an unmarked RUC Sierra, in a mark 2 Golf on a wee back road. The peeler driving is just getting that EFi Pinto revved up when they round a bend and there are bits of VAG trim all over the road, and it's Goof on his Roof time.

All you can see is the two cops from behind as they approach the VW, and one says to the driver, who is still inside the car "Are ye all right in there?" Presumably the reply was in the affirmative, as he then says "Right, ye buck eejit, don't move and we'll get ye out in a wee minute"

Solid-gold, classic RUC

I once bought a couple a these tapes - think they are still at my parents' house. :D

Yesterday there was a clip of a Mark 1 Granada where a back wheel fell off,

Yep I can remember that one, also an XR3 (i?) being chased around Great Yarmouth in Norfolk and a driver of a Coleman Milne limo (Granada mark 3 based) being caught on his brick mobile phone. Although there were no 'no talking on your mobile while driving' laws back then i suppose Plod could have done him for driving without due care and attention.

Talking of police sh*te I remember visiting Glasgow in 1984 (probably, memory hazy after 25+ years) and seeing a Tagora police car.

AFAIK It's always been an offence to use a hand held phone on the motorway.
