either a modern MP3/CD unit or a shite 80's one (blauplunkt or clarion ideally)

Haven't got a working spare, but there's a couple of period Blaupunkts for single figures of pounds on the Bay at the moment - I was looking myself as the one in the Golf is flaky and the Dedra's just got a hole in the dash (priorities?):

 

 

 

Would look well in the BX, I'd say. And if not you can just put the flap down. Are these the sort of thing?

I love stock 80s/90s Ford radios like 2nd down. I used to hoover them up at autojumbles and car boots, but got rid of them all recently. The best one went in the Triumph, the dead ones went in the bin and the rest went on eBay. They went for decent money, I got £18 for the same model as yours.

As for the ford one it came out of a scrap yard XR2 possbibly i, i will check to see if it works and stuff> Albert Ross make me an offer!

 

and as above it doesnt have a code! Just a wiring diagram in permanent pen on the top

Regarding the radios, the upside down two-bander looks like it's out of a 1980s Fiat, while the digital one on the bottom of the pile looks like it came out of an early 1990s base model Vauxhall Nova or Astra.

bottom is from an early k10 square micra 100% certain as mine came with 1 and was untouched by tinkering old gits .

The ford one is the ESRT32PS as fitted to Fiesta Mk2 S/Ghia/XR2, Escort/Orion L and Sierra L/LX. In working order they fetch a few bob now

upside down fiat job came out of a very rusty Dolomite 1500HL never tried to see if it works or not or if it had FM! Will have a look tommorrow and get AlbertRoss some more pics of the ford one.

 

Bottom one was from my k10 micra, being 17 i ripped it out and fitted some flashy light cd job that promptly got knicked

I've had the very same Sony device in the 944 for most of this year, since the failure of the original Pioneer.

I suspect I paid a little more, but not much & it's been completely without problems and loud when required.

 

On a curious tangent to this thread, there's another thread that pokes fun at dodgy covers for radios.

Well, I've got one of those as well & as folk say, its shit.

But, if anyone has a non-functioning piece of shit radio with two knobs & a bit of a facia.

I'm happy to pay postage & a bit for your scrap/crap old radio to make my dodgy cover look less dodgy.

I promise to post laughable/humerous pictures.

Please pm me to get rid of your old radio gaga...

That will be FM, "U" for some reason means FM on old stereos plus it ranges from 88-104.

 

Oh and £51 for a brand new Sony with AUX is a friggin bargain!

U means UHF = Ultra High Frequency

It does Mr B, but I have the code somewhere. Give me an hour and I'll root it out. I can bung it in the post Monday if you like ( the display works, but odd bits come and go as they please - sometimes its all there, sometimes chunks are missing - seems worse in cold weather.)
