Well gutted cort16 it was ment to be a surprise for my father as he had one in the 70's and always talks about this particular model till this day

Could he be persuaded to sell it as a parts car? Just thinking that any way of getting out that yard would be better than turned into a cube.

Posted
Maybe I shouldn't ask this but what sort of shape was it in?

overall a solid car,, blemishes of surface rust are on the panels though,, the front valence is bent,,, drivers wing has a plate weldid,, edge of the bonnet has some rust,, one of the rear doors has a dent but the chorme is generally good.. will have more pics up soon

fooks sake, you would think any breakers yard would know that a car like that would be wanted by somebody, what a load of toss..

I phoned Jim at Dunsmore this morning, he came over as a sound enough guy, says he wasn't bothered about selling the car but has had numerous phone calls all of a sudden. He's been offered £750, reckons it's a serious offer, my spidey sense tells me this is true, so I told him if he still has it after the weekend I'll buy it, no messing, and get it fetched. It's safe from being crushed anyway, just hope it's not nabbed by those who peregrinate the elliptical course.

shame you traveled all that way for nothing if i had known you could have poped in here for a look at my jap crap collection

on a more sinister note what accent do you carry, i know this shouldnt make a sod in hells difference but believe me it does sometimes,

My spidey senses say he's a twat. He refused to sell it to ra28gt, said it had to be crushed and now all of a sudden he's had loads of interest and didn't refuse your offer of £750. Soz like but I smell shitehawk here.

He may well be a shitehawk, but the spectacular rarity of the car means it's worth swallowing soem pride to ensure it doesn't end up crushed/duluxed... Autoshite fighting fund perhaps?

I read this this morning and drove to work feeling depressed that such a survivor could be finished off by a daft bint who could not tell one end of a V5 from another, despite it being her job. Instead I now think theres some funny shiz going on with a shitehawk seller, which i would not get involved with.

I feel I should add here that Larkhall is one of those places where Lloyds Pharmacy and Subway had to change their signs from green to blue or black, and all the green traffic lights have cages over them.

I shit you not. It's just that kind of town. I'll say no more.

I never had a problem at Dunsmores though I've personally only dealt with Jim about half a dozen times, the fella who actually owned the yard until he died, Jack, was well known for his efforts to aid bus preservation in Scotland.

If pride can be swallowed to get it to buggery out of Larkhall, I'd say £750 could be worth speculating on if they'll let it go... after all, who's got another?

Posted

Just to say good luck with this one guys. All the decent folk left Larkhall centuries ago. In the competition to be the most shitty place in Central Scotland (a hotly contested competition), Larkhall is a leading contender.

I type this as a relative local.

I've dealt with bus scrappies in the past (the ones in Barnsley), and tbh there was just one worth dealing with, Alan Hardwick. PVS & Wigleys, well...A bus me and a mate went to look at re-buying it, the dosey prats had slammed another bus into the front! The thing is we rang up well over a week in advance to sort a viewing when we both had a day off....

I can't help feeling we've handled this really badly. If several people have phoned up asking about it, no wonder he suddenly thinks it's worth more than £500. I hope it still gets saved.

Lets hope that someone can buy this, I mean for £750 you think he'd not care about the DVLA knowing he made a mistake they make loads so they cant really talk can they. I like these old Coronas and virtually none left now.
