Toyota Corona anyone?

Hi folks,

Gonna post this on OJC as well to see if there is any interest... been informed today that one of the local bus & coach dismantlers has a '75 Toyota Corona Mk2 in. Ayrshire registered, 25k on the clock and the last tax disc is dated 1989. Other than that, I know it's silver and it allegedly looks solid. Garage find, apparantly runs and drives. They have no interest in breaking it (thankfully) and I'm informed that the first £500 would secure it. I'm awaiting pictures but don't hold your breath as my colleague can be a bit slow on the uptake, but I'll try to run out on Thursday to get pics if there is any interest.

Contact Jim at Dunsmore Recovery on 01698 883203. Car is located in Larkhall.

Sounds ace, and you'll be able to hum "My Corona" to yourself while you drive it. (to the tune of my sherona, naturally)

Hmm this sounds tempting. I wonder if I my work would mind me dumping a ropey 70's Corona in their car park for 7-8 years?

Shame this is the other end of the world for me, I'd love to see some photos of it though.

Just in case you don't know or can't remember what a Corona Mark II looks like (I'm in the latter camp), here's a photo of one for your delectation:

Soft, southern, shandy-drinking bastard.

Wow! I'd have bought this had I not just eaten a leather filled edition of 'Retro Riders Don't Buy Your Car'. Apologies.

This looks very solid and I would be all over it if I had somewhere to park it. I really hope someone buys it...

Hirst perhaps?

If I had £500 and a garage I'd squirrel it away myself but I simply don't have either. Might get a chance to run out and see it myself tomorrow, though I'm told the interior (no pics... ) is pretty much complete too.

Is there a feasible way of getting that down South? if so I would have it in a heartbeat, it's gorgeous.

Shipley? I know a bloke with a beavertail who I can ask, but I don't know what he'd take. Or if he'd loan it to me. Hmm...

370 miles, booking a local MOT and rocking up with a can of petrol might be pushing my luck, anybody got an idea of costs?

I think I might have to do something about this. I'm gonna speak to the guy I rent my lockup from to see if I can store it down there.

The only worrying thing is the DVLA don't seem to acknowledge it's existance.

It's been off the road 22 years at least, from what my mate tells me - possibly dropped off the radar at the last set of V5 changes? It's not had a COD issued as the dismantler is actively trying to shift it.

Posted

fucking hell - that is rare as you like - some one - save it!

who is cashed up at the moment???

Still pulls on Cartell as a Corona 2000 so it's in there somewhere...

I can probably muster the £500 but I've nowhere to put the bugger and my old dear would explode if I turned up with a 36 year old Toyota on top of the other rammle I've acquired. Anyone got anywhere it could be stashed?!

This is why if I bought it I'd need to hide it somewhere she'd never know. Is this normal behaviour?

Des, if you can wait a few weeks a diesel + pasty deal for a collection could be in order. I'd love to see that Toyota.

I've just looked at Shipley, entered the address details and it turns out it's a kind of backwards auction site where anyone interested in the job can put in a tender, I'd guesstimate £300, if that's at all realistic then I'm up for some Toyota action.

Craig, that's good of you, I'll warm the pasties as well, would this be ok Mr. CMS? And how would I pay? Visa on the phone or a bank transfer?

Are you going for this Des as I quite fancy a pop at it too.? I'm just 20 miles from it but I'll not step on your toes if you've got your heart set.

if my client pays his bill this week I can buy it - I might have a contaier to stick it in - but the problem is - it will probably end up sitting there for the next 10 years - where's Vek when you need him???

Torsten!

I'd love this, but even with Shiply It would end up costing £1000 before i even started. I hope it doesn't even up getting wrecked by someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

Well I'm up for it, but 370 miles away, being 20 miles away makes it pretty straightforward, like it's meant to be. Just do act quickly before something happens, but please let me know if you don't as I'd do whatever to get it paid for ASAP and keep it safe.

Larkhall is basically to the end of the M6, then a bit further. Its a main trunk route, I bet there's loads of Shitley beavertails hooning past there empty all the time.
