  1. The other day I showed you a teaser shot of some bodies in primer. Things have moved on... I did say I had a body for the Commer chassis-cab! The cab was part of a job-lot; the body was an ambulance body I had lying about under several coats of old Humbrol, so I united them and made a police van. Oh... ...and the black one is one I did earlier! Looks like my Toytown PD has changed livery since their first riot van arrived...
  2. @FakeConcern Thank you! Excellent offer, and I'd be daft, not to mention rude, to turn it down. Which of course I'm not going to do! That's better than I could have hoped for.
  3. I've done 1980 Buick Century Limited 4 dr which was a close relation of the first there, and 1982 Plymouth Gran Fury which was the dead basic model of the second one. Plain basic mk1 van, does that count? We all know by now I enjoyed that very Cherry ten years ago (OMG, really???) but few probably know I used to drive a Bay pickup at work some years earlier, which was quite enough to put me off them for life. Photos of those I've owned in my Life Of Shite thread.
  4. I've just been on Steve Flowers' website, where the selection of parts on offer is rather more comprehensive than his ebay listings. Not to mention cheaper per item! I made up a list of what I need, segregated into Corgi, Dinky and Spot-On, and I reckon I'll be buying them in stages! The total without postage comes within conversing distance of £60. Bloody hell.... And! There's something I want that he wasn't able to offer, which is a shame as I need it to finish one of my restorations. Corgi Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato. I have all the opening panels, windows, wheels, interior... but what I don't have is the radiator grille and headlights. I can't find them anywhere. Anyone got a mangled example that still has these intact? Please?
  5. And that makes me very happy!
  6. I can't be the only Shiter who's had a PA Velox, shirley?
  7. I had a girlfriend in 1986 who had one of those. For some reason we never went anywhere in it, we would always be in my car instead (1974 Vauxhall Victor FE, 1975 Datsun Sunny 120Y, 1978 Austin Maxi).
  8. When we went to Cyprus in 2009, to live, this was our rental for the first month. Perfectly acceptable in many ways but also, very ordinary. In other words, nothing special.
  9. How are you in America without a car??????? I mean... I've been to SF and ok, a car is a bit of a liability in some ways, but I would absolutely have been lost without it. Of course I had the biggest thing I could get my hands on, which was a Chevy Suburban...
  10. I see no reason that Dodge shouldn't be 1/34. It is much bigger than the Escort, yes, but rightly so, the full-size vehicles would sit at a similar ratio. A better comparison would be Corgi's Chevy Caprice. @MiniMinorMk3, PM me about your Mini Marcos. I can help you out!
  11. Allow me to refer you to my avatar! My car and my dad's, in about 1995.
  12. Some nice stuff there but I can't quite play at those price levels unfortunately.
  13. I agree. That's all the contribution I can offer really, but at least you know you're not alone with your theory.
  14. That Celeste is lovely! There's a place in my collection for one of those.
  15. I believe my brother-in-law Mike had an Applause. I've certainly seen a photo of his Daihatsu Charmant. All of which was long before I met his wife's sister.
  16. For those who haven't been, it's a good day out. I've been a few times, and two of them as a Shiter. Last time was in Huggy, when I met up with a bunch of Shiters on the way. This'll tell you how long ago it was: one of them was Junkman, who sold me a 1/18 scale Mustang for my collection.
  17. There has, I mentioned it in context for the Perodua Kembara. Never driven an actual Terios (or the closely-related Toyota Vitz) but it could still happen, there are plenty of all three models in Cyprus.
  18. When I was a support worker one of my colleagues had one that she came to work in every day. That's the closest I've ever got to one.
  19. As I was saying... just over an hour ago I had a visit from a child dressed as a policeman (tbf he's probably 28 or so; I'm just old now). Since then a recovery truck has appeared and hoisted the Citroen away. PC said they think they know who the culprit is, and he's now doing time for something similar. Score one for Neighbourhood Watch!
  20. Ray, that's beautiful, thank you. It looks like it's correct for the Humber; I've had a look at some MIB examples online. PM on the way. In other news, you can tell I've got a new camera, lol... Two of my old Spot-Ons that I painted probably 50 years ago, or longer! I found them in one of my many boxes. Renault Floride and Austin 1800. I need to make some room outside then I can get them apart, stripped and painted. Some of what's in the way! I think we're through the primer stage now, I can start deciding what colours they need to be. Oh and don't worry, I do have a body for that Commer.
  21. Pretty much, yes. Connaught is the green you're looking for if you want the authentic shade, but Humbrol has a green that's close enough.
  22. I've just had a little look on ebay for you. The grille, front bumper and headlights are one unit, and I haven't found one for sale (yet), repro or otherwise. What I have found is that you got a good deal! The cheapest examples online are a tenner plus post. With that white (ish) interior, perhaps dark green would work?
  23. Very kind of you Ray, thank you!
  24. Thank you, that was interesting! I didn't know about TotalCarCheck. I've just 101'd it. The nice police lady said it came up on her system too. Now they know where it is we might see some action!
  25. Regular readers will remember that my compact digital camera died. With our European road trip looming I bit the bullet the other day and bought one in Argos, and this morning I took my first snap with it. Not the most exciting shot, you might think, but a potentially valuable record. This poor little thing has been parked in this spot, undisturbed, in our back alley for a good six weeks now. It shows up as taxed and MoT'd, and the back is loaded with decorating kit. Up front, the driver's window is down an inch or so, and both seatbelts are fastened. I've seen a police van apparently taking an interest, but no Police Aware sticker has appeared yet. Interesting...
