The Carlton came with a new rear bumper.
    Ā
    And new it is!
    Ā

Thankfully itā€™s the right one too. Canā€™t believe how easy it was to change. One bracket bolt seized up but I was able to get the grips on the back and relieve it of duty.Ā
    Ā
I cleaned up the paint behindĀ

only two nuts hold this on! Imagine if this was a 2010 insignia, youā€™d have to set fire to it to get the rear bumper off!Ā
    Ā
plenty of copper jizz on the studs
    Ā

    Ā
and there we have it. šŸ‘Œ

    Back from body shop tonight.
pin striping didnā€™t get fitted. I know a guy for that though šŸ˜‰

front splitter is actually wrong. Itā€™s a mk2 cavvy splitter but heā€™s made it fit. Itā€™ll do for now. But the front end is looking much better now

    Ā
    just isnā€™t quite long enough

    sexy

rear quarter didnā€™t need cutting out. He was able to grind it back, treat the rust and paint over.Ā

needs a damn good clean and polish now.

    Looks fantastic!šŸ‘
I donā€™t even think that splitter being for a Cav is all that noticeable. Iā€™d probably not have noticed if you hadnā€™t mentioned it.

Looks brilliant, as for the ā€œsplitterā€, itā€™s fine and looks great. That trim was notorious for coming adrift. Dadā€™s 83 Carlton was the same. The transport department bolted it back on with brass bolts and said ā€œif it comes off again, weā€™ll scrap the carā€!

Nearly a game of pass the parcelā€¦.

Plan is now, to have the front valence repaired and painted. Then fit the lower trim. I really want to fit it nowā€¦ā€¦.. but I might hold on yet.

Captains log. Star date 180523. We had a fuel leak yesterday. I didnā€™t fully tighten up the tank sender bolts because I feared snapping them off was imminent. Nipping them up a bit more cured that problem. Along with a coolant leak from the main elbow to water pump, again, tightened the hose clamp up a bit.Ā

On car and classic there is a V reg Royale saloon being auctioned. Been off the road since 1995. Bidding is up to Ā£300.
It's identical to the one I had.

New sender on its way. Ā£100. Not cheap, but also not expensive. And found by a lad in Liverpool who has 6 months ago cleared an old Vauxhall dealer parts department.Ā

im going to look into getting the tank cleaned and rust proofed soon. Anywhere still do that?Ā

Itā€™s not correct, as the one thatā€™s on it is bolt on, the one wrapped up in paper is twist on and has different size feed hole. Shame. But itā€™s no big drama. Once the fuel has gone down a bit with useage Iā€™ll pull the old one out. I recon there is corrosionĀ or jelly on the track that supplies variable resistance. It may just want cleaning.Ā

There was the usual sludge but nothing to break sweat about. Definitely the original gasket I recon. The small one didnā€™t break, so I left it well alone and put the new filter on. Seams happy!Ā

Keep forgetting I have a 2015 Allroad as a daily, Iā€™d quite happily send the Carlton into daily service but as Iā€™m moving all my tools and equipment outta my sheds I am going to give it a rest for a few days.Ā
