Any interest in this on here? 2004, 2 litre hdi, with 278k on the clock. Fantastic service history with recon rear beam and new clutch before I bought it. Just had cambelt and tensioners done. Bodywork is good with no rust or dents. Headlights could do with a polish or fit the two brand new relacements included in the sale. Drives well, you'd be hard pushed to tell the mileage. Engine is slightly tapperty, but not excessively. Interior is nice, no rips in seats and all clean. Mot until April i think, reg is VE04FZL, check the history out, only one fail in its life just for a bulb out. Would like 350 for it and its in Coventry.

I've only had it on a van policy for private use. I pay less than 300 fully comp on it. Its also classed as van, so £235 a year tax i think.

Pictures are from when I bought it a 18 months ago. Only difference are it now wears roof bars, and the front grill is held in with tiewraps due to the bloody catch breaking just after I bought it, now fixed. I also put a new starter on it when i bought it and battery

Have retaxed this so will use it for a week or so before I go off on my jollies. So its on the road if anyone is interested in it. Otherwise it will be Gumtree and facebook on my return!

How odd. It's like an estate, without the usefulness of rear seats as they aren't there and the windows blacked out. Almost looks like some sort of weird conversion - amazed it's an actual factory model.

These car/vans are very popular in France. My girlfriend's Clio looks like an ordinary car but had a flat floor and wee bulkhead before I ripped it out to replace it with seats.

Fairly common on the mainland but they never really took off here. I've driven Clio and Punto "vans" of a similar arrangement in France.

Well it now won't start so I'm about ready to scrap it! Yesterday it was running great and today it just turns over and does even attempt to fire up. Will change cam sensor then have a play otherwise the bridge is calling

Ok further investigation reveals a fuel pump that doesn't pump even when it's connected directly to a battery. I assuming it's now dead

IIRC the 306 uses the identical pump. Fitted in the top of the fuel tank with a largish plastic ring? A breaker must have one, or maybe ebay?

To be fair David it's just not worth the hassle. The pump appears to be original and was seized in hence a broken plastic collar. I'm supposed to be recuperating after spine fusion and not working on cars. I just want it out the way now. 150 if anyone wants it and can get it going.

If this is anything like the Berlingo 2.0 Hdi with a Siemens system it should have a single lift pump in the engine bay..and is easy to swap. In tank is fuel gauge sender only.

Are you sure? Everything points to an intank pump, part number comes up as fuel pump.

Both my Berlingo and Pug Partner 2.0Hdis of a similar vintage have a single engine lift pump. Xsara could be slightly different though.

Right googling reveals there to be a pump in tank and the main high pressure pump driven by the cambelt. The intank pump is completely dead, even when hooked up direct to a battery. Probably explains why it started easier afetr droping it down from axle stands yesterday. I'm assuming if this pump won't prime the system then it won't start?

Is there a primer in the engine bay to manually draw some diesel up?

Just checked my factory manuals and the fuel float and pump are combined in the tank, so yes it's knackered.

Yes there's a primer, and you can see it priming the system, and there flow out of the fuel filter when primer is squeezed

Might be worth trying the old school give the tank a whack technique! My old Xantia Hdi used to respond well to that! Does sound like the pump is knackered though.

Its been running, and sounded great when going. Judging by the battle the plastic retaining collar gave whilst trying to remove the pump I'd say its the original 288k one.

Found a second hand pump for £30 delivered so hopefully it will live again.

^^^ That's good news - not a common old thing, and would be sad if it were bridged over a pump.

Kinda the spiritual successor to the Pug 305 vans on here, in a way.
