The image that made you want it

Not sure if this has been done before?

Thought we could share some pictures that made you want that particular shite. Perhaps a launch or borchure shot? The one image that sticks in your mind when you think of that car.

As a kid, I grew up with dad owning a Mondeo LX. There was always a Mondeo brochure around and it was this picture that made me NEED a Ghia X. It made the LX look like pure poverty. Such a seductive photo, the hours I spent looking at that!!

Then as a 10 year old, I remember this appearing on the Renault website. Such an ugly front end, I knew I had to have a few.

I look forward to seeing what you guys have. I'm sensing a mirage of 80s hair, lots of brown and various cardigans.

I always wanted a saab from the day my dad bought one (a 9000 in 1992) and the dashboard looked amazing in the dark. It was jaw-dropping with the orange needles and green back-lit illumination. We'd been spoilt with 80s VAG dashboards up to that point and it was a different world.

I'll be honest, the dash in my new'un last night had an almost similarly pant-wetting effect.

I learnt to drive in my dad's Cortina Estate. It's not a picture, but I still have the mental image of the fit lass who was driving the 1 litre Metro that fucked off through the twisties at a speed the Cortina couldn't possibly follow. It might have been my dad's shit choice of ultra cheap remoulds, or her expert driving, but I thought: by crikey, those Metros are good in the corners.

Not so much the picture as such, but seeing one of these for the first time made me lust after one. In fact every time I saw one it made me want to own one more and more.

A bit sad I suppose but I always promised myself I'd own one day and eventually I did, E258 AUX iirc...

The Pug 504s being used as chase cars in the Bond film 'For your eyes only' made me want one, but I didn't ram any yellow 2CVs off the road in mine though.

Not a picture but the noise of crossplies on concrete motorways in the 1970s, Military Land Rovers with Sankey Trailers. All full of smoking squaddies. YEAH!

This page of this brochure.

That birds semi visible arse crack did wonders for me as an impressionable eight year old and is singularly responsible for me driving a variety of draughty, rusty Citroens later in life.
