More Renaults descend on Winterley

Right, here we go. . .

I made it very clear - NO MORE CARS and I meant it. Absolutely.

Unless it's another Renault

and an 18

and an estate

and it's a fuel chomping 2 litre

and it's BEIGE :D:D

43k and not been used since?

1997  It's truly mint - even my other 18s aren't this clean. The body is superb, bar some grot around the rear window. One alloy has a slow puncture, but all four are in great shape. The exhaust and cambelt were fitted, err. . . in France in 1985 - might just need doing, along with brakes and tyres. However it's a really nice one, which will look really good when the taigate is done and hen's teeth appear along with the roof trims which will be interesting to find. Now one beige 18 is good, but two?

My mate Paul, who live just round the corner from me has just purchased this :D

It too is a 1985 Mark2 with 52k on the clock - it's absolutely mint. The alloys are Boutique accessories, same as the American and the sunroof is factory fit with blinds and a different headcloth, not an aftermarket job. The chances of two 18s turning up, nevermind in the same colour is slim, but being in the same place! Winterley must surely rate highly on the Renault shite-o-meter!

They are both sweet as, especially the estate. Not seen one of them in so long.

I imagine them to be driven by women not dissimilar to Penelope Keith. Or the horsey set. That might be because of where I grew up.

I really like the styling of the renner 18 wagon, and I bet the 2.0 is pretty swift. Great find!!! How did you come across it?

I'd love to come round and get taken for a spin in this! 8)

marvellous stuff, both of them.

HillmanImp, I think you're off base regarding the driver types. The estate says "French (or possibly Spanish) plumber in 1992".

18s are one of my favourite Renners - my Dad had a gold/beige estate in the 80s but it was 'only' the GTL so was a 1.7 and didn't have the roof bars like yours. I always used to look enviously at those posh folk who had the GTX down the road from us!

Very nice 18s indeed. 8) I love those alloys on the saloon. :D

Ha! The Headmistress at the school I went to had a C reg 18 saloon and she spoke the Queen's English. A few years later she replaced it with another white Renault - a facelifted 19.

My late Uncle had a metallic green Renault 18 estate as his 'van'. I think it was A reg and believe it replaced a Transit he had previously. My aunty sold it after he passed away (c.1996). :( Apparently from what i remember it wasn't very reliable.

Richard---How do you find them?????????

For 3 weeks I have been trying to find a replacement for my Turbo,,,,and in the end I buy a Peugeot. Now dont get me wrong, the Pug is a fine car, but my name being Renomad ,well you know the story!

That estate looks great!, I also love the styling of these, growing up opposite a Renault main dealer in the 80's obviously had a effect on me!

Lovely GTX! Does it have the cruise control lights around the top of the speedo? My old man had a TS saloon when I was younger, and was dead chuffed when a schoolmate's Dad bought a LS estate - I was so convinced that ours had a bigger engine that I bet a bag of Anglo Bubblies on it. L - 1397, S - 1647 and X 1995 was my logic. A whole bag of bubblegum lost!!

I'd have a stroke if I came across them in the wild!

Into a sock, or Al Fresco?

Blinking 'eck, you reallly do have a talent for finding this stuff. Good work, both of them look properly nice.

Nah - back in the 80's Renault were sensible enough to quit while they were, well, failing. Once drove a well-worn GTX saloon with cruise control that I shouldn't have messed with, as it didn't want to switch off. No cruise on stuff this late, but the funky leather steering wheel instead. Dad nearly bought an sand coloured LS estate back in 82, but went for a white TS estate instead :D There are two LS estates on the road still - free beer for the person that finds me one, as even the French didn't get offered this one.
