1991 SAAB 900 16V 4 SALE, T&T £200

Hi Gang!

Just taken the above motor in part exchange for my Audi from Hillmanimp. Its a straight old barge with a few dents, rusty door bottoms but runs and drives great! The headlining is missing so no worries with it being draped over your head!

In short, its tatty but honest.

180k on the clock.

MOT till June 2012 (MOT cert to follow)

Taxed till end of October.

I was going to run it till the tax expired then sell/weigh it in but the insurance is just too expensive, especially as I can get the Volvo 240 I have insured for £175 (thanks for the tip, Scotty!) Although its a bit tatty, there is no reason why it can't carry on for a good few years more with the right owner, I can't see any major disasters looming.

It owes me £200, which I could get in scrap. Anyone vaguely interested? Its on Stoke on Trent and need it to go ASAP!

PICS STOLEN FROM A FEW MONTHS AGO FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER, BUT IT STILL LOOKS LIKE THIS.

Aaah, oh yeah.... thread title changed!

I'll be the first to ask 'IZ DIS RAER WHEEL DRIVE M8?' :D

What is it like on fuel? I've got 300 for a new uber-cheap motor, but have to be careful on mpg and insurance. :) Those Saabs are ace looking cars.

Feck me what a bargain

If I had somewhere to park it, I would've been in Stoke already.

Its absolutely great, 75MPG*

Actually I dunno, I only got it this morning!

I got quoted £300 on insurance, so not that bad really.

With any luck, a J-reg should qualify for CRASHIC insurance.

That is classic insurance, Volvo comes in at £175, Saab of the same age comes in at £300. Cheap, but not cheap enough!

My experience of different 900i - low-mid 20s, high 20s-low 30s on a run.

Same for everyone else judging by this: http://www.fuelly.com/car/saab/900 (you might need to click "UK" at the top left to get proper figures)

It's about the only thing wrong with them imho. Bargain though. Could be worse, I averaged 18mpg in my 9000.

It averages out at 33mpg with a combination of town and motorway driving. I always put exact litres in and work out how well its doing on a spreadsheet as I am a saddo like that.

I can vouch (as can all the people on this forum and Retro Rides that have also owned this car) that this is a great car. Am surprised about the cost of the insurance as I got it on the policy with my GT6 for £150 for both. Oh well, cant be helped. It would be a shame to scrap it as its bob on. It was the LPG on the Audi which made me want to change otherwise I would still be smoking around in this for the forseeable future. The boot is HUGE. I used it for going mountain biking as 2 bikes fit easily in the back with the wheels on with room to spare. Its brilliant for motorways as it pulls really well and is pretty quick. I was surprised as to how fast it was when I got it.

I was genuinely sad to see it go. :( I really hope it goes to a good home.

WTF?! I'm getting £1244p/a cheapest on absolute bare bones, valued at 300 quid, 500 miles a year, stored in garage, 2 years NCB classic insurance?!

Classic policies don't take NCB do they? If you're doing it online I'd read that as a sign it's quoted you for a non-classic policy even though asked it for a classic quote. Lancaster do that to me 5 times out of 10.

It's through Heritage classic insurance ~(which is brokered for Chaucer).

Any ideas how I could get this ridiculous shit down at all? I hate doing this crap online.

I would love it as a back-up for a while, but I have no place to park it...I'm sure the local scum can't wait to break into my cars again.

Hopefully it'll end up with Station!

What a beaut!!

Just seen one of these on "POLICE STOP" circa 1994 towing a trailer with a vintage car on crashing through a level crossing barrier. Superb cars and very robust!

Posted

This really should be a no brainer! It's worth about £230 over the bridge when the tax runs out!

£50 note for sale. Will accept £45ono.......

SOLD to and driven away by nice chap from Halesowen who is a bit of a SAAB fan and will use it as a second car.

Bloody hell, that's doing the rounds! It's also a 1992, not a 1991 :wink: . Nice to see my old photos too!
