I was thinking the same thing, i can't really see what homeless kids have got to do with cars, i was expecting to see more stuff about cars then this.

oh jeez, not another BBC 'the car is the planet killer' programme....

Just looks like the usual poor peasants displaced by evil expansion, pollution blah blah while pretending to do some poor Top Gear challenge type thing.

Still makes the £295million in aid we're giving them this year well spent.

There is no excuse for rubbish like this, there have been a number of excellent programmes on Indian railways which have shown you a great deal about India as a country as well as giving you a real insight as to what the railways are like. The real problem was the presenters, they were superficial and patronising, whether talking to a Maharanee or subsistence farmers. The man was amazed that India was 'different; what was he expecting, Budleigh Salterton? The woman, although Indian, had no interest in India, and her only in-depth analysis of why the Maharanee's Rolls-Royce or the Tata Nano existed in the Indian culture was to sound the horns and giggle like a two-year-old. :(

I was looking forward to this programme, but with this pathetic pair don't bother with part 2.

I watched it, thought it was quite interesting TBH. True, it was no Automania (that's one for older readers) but it was about the standard you'd expect nowdays. As for it being anti car, I thought it was quite the opposite, TBH. Imagine the way the BBC would have reported on the construction of a racing circuit and 6-lane highway in this country as opposed to a 'developing' one... and as has been said, GR8 use of our aid...

Oh, and the CCTV footage of the road accidents made my shit itch...

I saw it and I dont think it came off as being anti car, there was quite a bit of stuff on how the car is seen as something people aspire to. Yes they mentioned some drawbacks but I certainly didnt think it was biased.

I cringed at the idea of a Tata Nano being sold in a European market, I quite like the idea of the nearest one being a good 5000 miles away!

It was entertainment (of sorts) but as mentioned not much cop if you wanted to learn about the Indian car industry. I bet those Nanos are bloody awful but I'd love to have a go in one, future Indian shite :)
