Or have they always been so?

I know they've only recently been replaced, but they seem to have been around for EVAH. Mine certainly satisfies many 'shite' criteria. As always, lady and gents, your thoughts welcomed...

Not far off I would have thought.

It is a Citroen after all!

Borderline.

The earlier ones are much better looking, like the Xsara before they went all silly.

I reckon that they are the new 2CV, and almost certainly worthy of Shitehood.

they were shite from the first day they were sold

The are the most anti-Posear vehicle whilst simultaneously being brilliant.

I have been an absolute and total car nut since... well I don't know because I can't remember anything younger than four.

The other day two blokes in the lift at work were discussing why the Audi A6 was now better than the BMW 5 series.

You know what? I'd rather have a Berlingo.

I like them, as they never pretend to be anything other than a van with windows. Facelift was a bit gash though, plus try and get an early one with only one rear door for extra shite points

I love em.

Had a phase 2 and it was ace, three kids in the back, more shite than you could shake a stick at in the boot. and slidy doors for those fiddly spaces.

I would love a phase one with full length sunshine roof and 1800 pezza engine - they shift.

One of the women at work is expecting twins and I keep telling her this would be a GR9 replacement for her Daewoo Astra, but she has decided that she is too cool to drive a "spakkawaggon" as she calls it and will go to Arnold Clarkes and buy some 09 plate Zafira instead

So extra points IMHO :D

Less than £800 this can be yours

I *heart* Berlingos. Same applies to Kangoo cars too.

They just make such a lot of sense - cheap, comfy, nice enough to drive, practical, vast load space. I don't know why you would buy a Picasso / Scenic rather than a Berlingo which does the job much better. Probably entirely down to snobbery sadly.

Ace cars though, I need a reason to get one!

I very nearly bought a 1.8i Mk1 with the full soft top last year. Still not sure how I avoided buying it to be honest. Probably didn't have any money. It was at about £560 on Ebay.

I don't really like the facelift at all, even if it is OMG NCAP FINK OF DA KIDS proof compared to the Mk1. Still better than the current iteration which is so large that it seems to undo most of the advantages of a small van.

Have some children

One is all it takes, especially if said offspring possesses musical ability requiring the transport of large percussion instruments!

bet you all forgot about the Dangel conversions

Not a Blingo, more the van version. I love 'em.

My ol' man's Partner. Used it for 6 months over last winter, never once let me down and went first flick of the key even in THAT weather. 59bhp and skinny tyres meant it never once got stuck in all that snow, brilliant little tool. Let down only by being horrendously undergeared (80mph on the motorway was the absolute maximum, the poor old XUD was on the governor in 5th at that speed) which meant that whilst it would do 50mpg pottering about it dropped to just over 40 on a long journey if you were caning it. Apparently Peugeot dropped the 1769cc version early on for that reason.

Unfortunately he resolutely refused to sell it to me, hence I've now returned to 5 seats and Hydropneumatic waftiness.

They're not shite. They're shit.

Ah yes. They have such luxuries as suspension, winding windows and sound proofing. Silly me. :P

Have some children

Already have. And the Sprinter is fairly damn good for sticking big child stuff in :D

If I was after another car for daily use though, I reckon it'd be a blingo.

or a doblo, but i am biased!

In fairness the Doblo did / does come with 7 seats as an option. The Cit doesnt. Prices though seem firmly in autoshite territory for the Citroen.

Loadsa room in the boot.

Metalwork made of tin foil though

Speaker grille covers are optional

Add a trailer for moar luggage space.

My ex- NHS out of hours service vehicle. Bloody ace car. Would still have it now i the wife hadnt got herself up the duff again and we needed 7 seats.

Are you picking on Solihull's finest again?

I thought that every Citroën automatically achieved shite status after six years?*

*Jesting aside, I think they are great, especially the hyrdropnuematic ones

Recall being in a Berlingo taxi ( I was pissed so vaguely recall it) and I thought it was the perfect car for taxi purposes with it's slidey doors, high roof line and it's utilitarian nature. So it's a win for me. 8)
