My first Cortina Crusader 1.6, purchased in 1993 for £75:

Briefly joined by a 2.3 Ghia manual, from 1994 to 1995:

My previous car another Cortina Crusader 1.6, owned from 1996 to 2009, used daily as my only car upto 2008.

A car which I went to view on behalf of a Cortina Club member:

A part exchange at work, which we eventually weighed in. Someone temporarily lost the keys, hence the smashed rear window:

Finally it's 1999 with the impending launch of the Rover 75, what better car to sit along side the new model in the showroom:

Nice Cortinas there.

You don't enough dealers bringing old stuff into the showroom to sit alongside the new. Local Renault dealer does have a Floride in the showroom though.

Especially like the beige one, isn't that a base model due to no rubbing strips and weedy stripes in their place or do the black inserts on the bumpers mean it's an 'L' model? My dad had a 1.6L estate as a company car circa 1987 (PEM 120T I think) in that colour which replaced ONB 903P (iirc) a Mk3 1.6L estate in white.

Great to see all those Ipswich/Suffolk registrations! I lived in town from 1989-95, chances are I might have seen them around but back then of course there was still plenty of them on the road and it would only be any belonging to neighbours that I’d remember.

AHK78X close to AHK125X on my stepdad’s 924.

I love that Taunus, blew me away when I first saw it at Henham.

Where was the Rover 75 shot taken? Can’t immediately think who the Rover dealers would have been back then. Great to see the cars on the forecourt in the background that are now just cheapies or banger racing/frag machine fodder.

Is that in Burnley by any chance? On the same road as the renault dealer (kitchens IIRC), there used to be a car supermarket further up the road that had a gold or bronze coloured Floride in the showroom. However, I think the place was stupidly expensive and most people saw sense not to buy from them, as I don't even think it stayed open a year. Interesting to know if they had any relation to the Renault dealer, or whether they just bought it went the company went bust?

Cortinas are ace.

Here's a few of the ones I had (none of which look as shiny as the ones above...)

I'm pretty sure that with the possible exceptions of the Green RS2000, the Mk5 RS2000 and the white RS without the vinyl roof, they're all long dead. Which is annoying as if I'd kept 'em I'd probably have enough cash to own a few minor European countries. I sold 'em when they were all cheap - apart from the Cosworth which I swapped for a money pit Integrale, the Mk5 RS which went in favour of an E34 520i (bad move), and the white RS which I almost got my money back on.

Who's is the Manta in the background of the last pic?

That belonged to my old next door neighbour. He worked for Mercedes and was forever fiddling with the Manta to make it quicker. It ended up with a Senator 24v lump in. Went well. He had a Manta A as well.

Mantas look the bollocks but they tramp more than a Big Issue seller. Shame.

Looks like a scene from Des's garage in Minder

the wheels were midland wheels 15in minilites - I have to say I was never a huge fan of them on the car, but they were better than the swcabby roadsports!

I have to admit I've never been much of a Ford man, but I'm really starting to warm to MK4 Cortinas, WMS and FLB above look so 'right' in my eyes. There's a couple of MK2's, a MK3 and a couple of MK5's floating around here, but I only know of one MK4 - this one. Seems a bit of a waste to me.
