3 Wheels Good...

...and flops around corners.

The arguable cause of the demise of the British motorcycle industry, certainly a massive part in the demise of the huge BSA company, the BSA Ariel 3!

BSA tooled up to produce something like 50,000 a year they ended up selling only a few thousand and using the advertising tag line of "Here It Is, Whatever It Is!" you can see why. Designed to tempt people onto something more stable than a scooter or moped it sort of failed miserably. The rear contains the Dutch made Anker - Laura 50cc engine and stays put while the front pivots and drives the rear wheels by toothed belt.

The technology was sold on cheaply to Honda and surprise surprise turned the design into a highly successful delivery vehicle!

Had never heard of these before. I can see why they thought it would be a good idea though. What made them crap? I guess they must handle badly.

So is this the latest addition to your collection?

Just a temporary addition, I've had too many in the past and it was a surprise ebay win, I had no idea I'd bidded on it!
