Those seats are gorgeous - wonder if it comes with a column change, the floor change lever is very long...

Those wheeltrims were spectacular, a sort of cross made of a flexible polythene type plastic

that pulled off to reveal a very ordinary steel wheel underneath but looked very clever when in place.

I had an interesting experience in my mothers 4 door 100a when I was 19.

Whilst attempting to overtake a Granada 2.8 estate

I ran out of dual carriageway & hit a Leyland Clydesdale coming the other way

This contrived to spin the cherry around by about 90 degrees

whereupon it was struck broadside on by the Granada

I broke a shit load of bones & the front axle of the Clydesdale.

Won't be doing that again then eh?

Curiously, this has lead to my subsequently buying cars which are capable of accelarating with some alacrity.

Blimey that Dattie brings back memories - I used to see a lot of these with those black wheeltrims when I was small. Plus these epic trims I remember well on the 120Ys:

Oh my God I soooo want a B210 Datsun Sunny 120Y with dustbin lid wheel trims. Preferrably in duck egg blue. Would be the perfect companion to my modern(ish) Almera.

Also loving the 100a too and the Isuzu Florian with the bench seat. 8)

Thanks for the comments and stories, those old Datsuns are very appealing. Here's some more stuff, first of all an old 'photoshop' quiz, hiding 12 different cars:

A Fiat Pandarino prototype

And a Uno proto maybe?

Yugo 45/55 prototype possibly? :?:

The Porsche 928 was my favourite car of all time when i was growing up in the 1980s and 90s. 8)

Does look Yugoish indeed... would they have tested it in Italy?

1) Subaru?

2) Rolls Royce.

3) Iveco van?

4) Saab?

5) Lancia?

6) Talbot Sunbeam?

7) Astra Mk1?

8 ) Fiat Strada?

9) Renault Fuego?

10) Alfa?

11) Porsche (I would have said XR3i but too many stud holes).

12) No idea!

Too bad I don't have the next mag - the one with the solutions... I think yours are pretty much spot on, but those sidepipes, from an Alfa?

Posted

DOH! I thought it meant just the door rubbing strips and didn't spot the arrow pointing to the sidepipes. Can only think of something like a DAX Cobra that had sidepipes.

Posted

Sidepipes would be some hideous American pseudo classic thingy.

3 is something like Uno Turbo?

The front wheels are nothing like XR3i ones, which had four big round holes for a start! Deffo 928 or perhaps more shitey 924?

Posted

Front bumper is Fuego. Front wheels are Porker for sure..

Posted

Ah, Fuego! Merci monsieur.

A bit more randomness:
