skattrd Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I'm now thinking I may head for Lymm, its a longer route, but A1-M62 should be an easy run.
warren t claim Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Due to a domestic emergency I really don't think I'll be able to make it tomorrow. I'll happily settle up for the price of the ticket and hope to join you all later in the afternoon if I can.
skattrd Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Decision made, I'll head for Lymm, .... please say hello to the half asleep bloke in the blue Thema
Barrett.in.the.USA Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 please come and put us at ease... (I've never met a real person from an internet forum before ) I'd avoid it if at all possible, this lot are all mentals
Cavcraft Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Hey, it's a veritable chod fest here already! RS owners chasing flies and polishing on top of polish, complete lack of organisation and some flat caps are invading our spec. Got to go there's some fuckers in Sherpa sports arriving
Pete-M Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I got a few pics, but there aren't many cars in 'em. Llamas, on the other hand, I can do pictures of Llamas.
MK5 Escort Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I’m back...! A very enjoyable Sunday out, although it wasn't quite as big as I’d thought it would be. A decent selection on display though from a few rotbox Mini’s, HC Viva's, Escorts, up to a particularly nice blew Daimler I spotted. I've got 20-odd pictures of it stored on my laptop but still clueless as to how to upload them from there to here (braindead when it comes to things like that)... Anyone get a shot of that green Travant or the white Fulvia down by the lake? Over that way there was also a spotless red Renault Fuego. I liked the rather fetching metallic brown crayford Cortina. It was a bit rough close-up though. I wouldn’t have liked to have been inside that when the downpour came... I had a serious horn over that red Chrysler Avenger estate and more embarrassingly, that RAC-liveried mk4 Escort van. Anyone see that barbie pink, heavily customised J reg Mini which kept on moving? Jesus wept. That was utterly horrendous. Properly vomit inducing...
Volksy Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Great day, had to rush off due to m. Imp requiring to flog a rather broken scenic to some random Essex bloke, who in true eBay stylee knocked a one'r off the price.... However, good to put names to some faces. The Saab make it back, at a rapid rate, although in the three seconds it took him to change the tape from Def Leppard to some happy hardcore type music they announced the F1 result, resulting in lots of shouting and me waking up expecting to die impaled on an crash barrier... I was glad Of the break in the music tbh
Pete-M Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Heh, we shot off early because LFC were playing.... twas only half way home I realised that they're playing... tomorrow.
KruJoe Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I concur. It were PROPER BO I tell thee!Pete you plank! Who in their right mind would forgo a top-flight shite meet for football? Pah. I missed the Averager Estate - That's class! I did get some nice pictures between the showers, uploading now. First few:The meet up at Lymm under threatening skies... The convoy down to Chumley: On pulling in... ...I though this looked a likely bunch, and prepared myself to pull up on the end: On closer inspection: North Birmingham Vehicle Club, and altogether too shiny. Beyond the lines of sparking Jags and Stags, there was plenty of our kind of chod, including the afore-mentioned... ...and when this pulled up near our patch, some of us really struggled to keep it in our pants, didn't we? Some of ours: More to come Really nice to chat to those who made it, and thanks again to Billy for sorting it out for us.Those who didn't come, get on it for next time!
dieselnutjob Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 who owns the 305 estate?I owned four estates and three saloons over the yearsI damn nearly built a turbo diesel one with GTX interior
Pete-M Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 who owns the 305 estate?I owned four estates and three saloons over the yearsI damn nearly built a turbo diesel one with GTX interior Watanabe is the custodian of the 305... It's all your fault, Phil. If you hadn't brought that bloody 604 to the NEC...
dieselnutjob Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I can't think of a car that is more unloved and yet really good at the same time than the 305.Mine had van rear suspension on it and it would four wheel drift around roundabouts and stuff. It is the only car that I have felt confident to drive properly quickly in.
Luxobarges_Are_Us Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 The entire 305 range is made of WIN. Just two years ago I was in Senegal for a little while, and I rode in a diesel taxi that was happily driving around with a napkin in place of the fuel cap (of course, there's no fuel flap on them, either). Went pretty well despite the age and unlovedness- I bet it's still in service. It's quite sad to see how much Peugeot has dumbed its own cars down. They bought Citroen specifically for its avantgarde credentials then decided that they want their own brand to be avantgarde as well, thereby alienating both their own no-nonsense customers as well as the more forward-thinking Citroenists. I'm quite amazed that their sales still are reasonably strong- with such a dodgy strategy, you'd expect them to be near enough bankruptcy by now.
Luxobarges_Are_Us Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 As for the castle, seems like a great day was had by all. Will definitely try and come next yr and/or to any upcoming meets!
retro80sboy Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 isnt there another one september time? Ill bring my van then.
Cavcraft Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 There is a September one but we usually on 'do' the May meet as once a year seems right. Nothing to say September couldn't be organised though, let me know nearer the time and I'll order some tickets if enough people want to go.
