I was hedging that or a Granada (image is meant to be 1977/78). I had '78 2.0 GL Cortina Estate and the trim etc looks correct but the car appears a little too wide - but that could be the camera angle (I never saw my Cortina from that angle)

Hell of an oil slick out of the exhaust ;-)

The picture is a mk4 1.6L estate. It is definitely a Cortina not a Granada.

1.6L - below my pay grade ;-)
Only kidding  - my 2.0 litre cost £400 in 1992 with a cracked bellhousing - scrappies down my way had hundreds of 1.6 gearboxes but no 2.0 litres? Good car FLY370T - long gone.

Do you have any pictures?  I would love to see a picture of it. A 2.0GL is a great car, great number plate too. The broad speed Twin turbo Granada was FLY 2T.

No piccies - it was beige/gold, brown vinyl roof, dark brown velour inside. Hammered out front wing, skew-wiff front bumper and about 100K miles. Other than the slipping clutch it never ley me down.
Went up and down the M4 for a year in it until it was beyond any sort of economic repair (did a new bellhousing & clutch) as everything was rotting off it. Everybody at work was driving Asra SRis and the like - they'd never park near mine in case it had some learghy.
Happy days,

Wullie Low's, Dumfries, 1978. Moggy, Ovlov, Scimitar, Rover - what's behind the P6 (I was thinking Viva but it's too big - Viva parked o/s Lows tho'?)
Some sort of Hunter/Sceptre maybe?

The Cortina seems to have aftermarket plastic wheel covers which I don’t remember being available until the 80s. Shiney metal hub caps were the norm.

I reckon this is about 1975 (mk2 Escort the most recent car I can see).

VX 4/90  is a good call  (I had an overnight revelation that it may be a Zephyr/Zodiac but - meh.)

Looks like an HC Viva to me, no Coke Bottle curve at the back.

This is a Vauxhall Viva. The rear door window bottom is straight

viva.jpg.1500284807121abe60e65057ce13ae65.jpg

It is not an FE, the front bumper does not wrap around enough and the rear screen rake is too steep
