My New Maxi!

I looked after a '79 Maxi briefly and it was a really nice example which was lovely to drive apart from a slightly vague gearbox. I have a love/hate relationship with the styling but I found it to be a really useful vehicle and actually very solidly built unlike some other BL cars I've experienced. I was very impressed with the flat cornering too.

The sound of the start-up and engine note of an E-series is pure nostalgia for me and reminds of my dad's Allegro so much.

Got to get this mofo back from Shropshire,

Good luck with that; looks a nice one.

I loved our Maxis. Here's our last one :-

Why not join us on http://landcrabs.proboards.com I know it's not a Landcrab. but I think we should cover the Maxi as well. :)

I'm tempted to say 'get it all nice, drive it to Holland and let's swap cars'... Maxi looks like such a practical classic.

Nice one Torsten. From what I saw of it, it looks like it has a lot of potential.

Personally I prefer these to the series 2. I love the chrome and the "leatherette" seat covers.

Mr Organist I have taken everything you have said on board! Maxis seem basically such well engineered cars that I have total faith in them even buying sight unseen!

Michiel, I'm up for a swap if you fancy it, there needs to be a larger Maxi presence in the Netherlands, no pressure though!

Keef, I'm joining up!

I shall give a swap some serious thought - Maxi would be ideal for trips with people that don't really fit in the back of a Sirion (ie adults), trips to ikea, the weekly grocery shopping trip... except for the machine at the underground parking that distributes the ticket on the left of the car. Might have to enter that one in reverse then.

Well done. :)

Angry, I think we need to put some Maxi promotion on the board somewhere. ;)

Maxi's are fab!

For some reason I really like the Maxi2's...I don't know why. Better wheeltrims, side moulding, grille.

My aunt had one in the mid seventies in Harvest Gold....drove everywhere in second gear...nightmare!

Nice one Torsten

I've just bought a Maxi too. Must be something in the air, eh 8)

I do know of a W-plate Applejack Green Metro HLE in my town, crusty wings but a 50k runner with ticket. It's for sale.

I didn't used to like Maxis but this forum has changed my mind!

Seems like the majority of the ones that have survived this long are in pretty good shape.

Pictures are here for anyone who can't view them - 5th advert down.http://www.austinmaxiclub.org/forsale/carsandparts.htm

Don't you love it when websites are updated, especially when the update isn't half of what the original was? :(

Best I could find was https://web.archive.org/web/20120121055655/http://www.austinmaxiclub.org/forsale/carsandparts.htm Still no picture, but maybe handy for the future?
