Chrysler 2-Litre...First Drive

That's bloomin' lovely! Well done on getting it sorted, though unless you're very brave and will be using it regularly over winter you've now got to be patient for a few months.

Yes, they were built in Spain from 1976 onwards to make room for Simca 1307/Alpine production in France. They did a diesel version for the Spanish market so I think a lot were taxi-cabs. It was quite popular over there. Not sure how many are left here though...definately single figures!! :(

This is in breathtaking condition; absolutely stunning and wonderful to behold. They remind me of trips to France as a child in the early 'eighties - they must have sold better over there.

OOOFFF! That is magnificent. Get a brown suit, cream shirt and tie - GR8 4 being my mate's Dad in the 1980s.

WIN.

That is beautiful ,want.

Are any of you aware that the Aussies sold these with a 4 litre Chrysler 6 at the front. They apparently suffered from slight understeer :)

Its a Autoshiters dream that car.

However i agree with Spotted Laurel. I would not want to see what 6 months of winter driving did to my mates Avenger a few years back, happen to this.

I WANT IT!!

That looks amazing.. ive never seen one before!! im sure it will be nice investment:-) great thing with older cars... thay are more likely to appreciecate than depreciate!! my kinda motoring :-) (or as somone did point out more likley to disintigrate before apprecieate!)

It's been a very long time since I saw one of those in the flesh.

That looks very nice - how about some interior velour porn?

Thanks for the nice comments, lads. Isn't it great that we all have the same interests at heart!! :P

Lets keep it up!! (Oooh, missus!!)

I didn't realise such a car existed - I guess I always thought they were just Avengers or something. :?:

Can we see some more pictures please? Especially the rear and interior. :)

Simply Superb :D:D

The Aussie one was known as the Centura - IIRC there used to be one at the Coventry transport museum.

When they were designed by Rootes/Chrysler UK in the late 1960s, they were orginally going to badged as a Humber and there were plans for a new V6 to power them.

Fabulous, glad it's everything you hoped it would be. That's a mighty fine fleet you've built up now.

That is a fantastic save and I am extremely jealous.

It is ever so slightly better than the black Dulux hand painted one I had back in 1980.

This is quite possibly the nicest remaining example in this country. I`ve heard/seen pictures of about 6 remaining 2-litres and 2 180s including mine. I`d like to think there were more, that`s a dangerously low stock for such a stylish car.

Don`t suppose you`ve found a decent source for bits have you? I`ve had to get everything off ebay and it`s a bit tricky, I ended up in a right old tussle with a french guy over a master cylinder once. If you ever need a rear light lens give me a shout I`ve got about 8 of them!

Hi mate.

If you PM me I have a contact with quite a few spares.

Got any pics of yours...would love to see it. I'd heard that the 180's were extremely rare now...only 2 sounds about right, unfortunately.
