Anyone interested??- It's a "Realistic" Electret Condenser Replacement Mike, I'd guess 80's/ 90's. Still in the original box (with £8.95 Tandy price sticker :D ). It has a double 3.5mm connector and comes with "BL Orange" wind shield and table stand (small piece of moulded plastic).

Just after a couple of quid to cover postage.

Tandy! Whatever happened to them???

I dunno - seems like one minute they were everywhere, and then bang, gone...

My dad used to love their "free batteries" offers.

Oh, and dibs on the mic.. I need a really cheap microphone with a stand at the moment

Still trade online.

Sold their UK shops to carphonewarehouse about 10years back

I think they were called Radio Shack in America/Canada. I was in a branch in Toronto about ten years ago and it was absolutely identical to the Tandy shops here, right down to the clutter and the Finchy style manager.

That's pretty much how I remember Tandy in the 80s. :D

I could never imagine who would buy their stereo equipment and phones, they always cost much more than makes you'd heard of and everything looked sub-Amstrad. It was good to browse around though, and it was one of the few ways for "civilians" to get electronic components.

As said Tandy were great for all sorts of bits and pieces you just couldnt (indeed still cant) get at Currys / Comet etc.

There are now a few Radioshacks in the UK -I think they are franchises.

Such as this one in Lancaster:

I was pleased to see them reappear as there is no Maplin in Lancaster and they are still good for bits and pieces. I actually bought my parents a Roberts digital radio from there last Christmas as they had the best selection in town and I hate Dixons Stores Group AKA Currys!
