I have been, and there is a fair amount of old chod in there. Mind you it was years ago..

Oddly enough I'm passing there on my way to an interview in Shrewsbury tomorrow.

Amazing place, used to drop by on break from my previous driving job to watch scores of Brummies chucking large cash deposits down on nearly new Bentleys, Rollers and Ferraris.

Have you been to the actual scrapyard (as opposed to the salvage) in Roving Bridge (or something like that) far, far away down the back lanes of Whitchurch? That is mind-boggling and used to be ram full of old shit inc. Mk1 Cortinas and that sort of thing. Bastard of a place to find but well worth the effort.

I've been told they have a couple of Renault 4s in there so it might be worth me having a look.

I seem to recall there were some photos on RR at one point.

If anyone does go to Prees have a wlak round the back of their salvage unit. They used to have a few odd brand new bodyshells kicking about inc. some three door Sierra Mk1 shells, Mk2 Astra estate ones and random other stuff.

I have never managed to find Furbers... I'm told theres a rear ended near mint Allegro in there for salvage!

Billy, Prees has a salvage yard?

Hell yeah, Tim. The salvage yard is on Prees Ind. Est (just off the A49 Shrewsbury to Whitchurch rd, not far from Whitchurch) and they do (or did) commercial and motorbike spares and salvage too.

They did have a big clear out years back as they had loads of old stuff in the salvage yard including an early Metro and one honey of a Landcrab, pretty sure it was a Wolsely 6 up in the sort of roof space above all the posh stuff.

The breakers yard as said before is a bastard to find: Basically either go into Whitchurch town centre and ask someone there, or take the A525(?) Whitchurch-Wrexham Rd, turn left at The Redbroook Hunting Lodge pub/hotel (direction of Ellesmere) and then about two or three miles or so down there left again and then ask someone!

Once you get near everyone in the local villages will tell you where it is as Furber owns nearly all the houses around the area. You end up going over a small bridge (it used to be a sheet of metal I kid you not) over a canal and then bear left.

It's a fucking HUGE place and was a 'proper' type of yard with stuff all over the place you could climb into/over to get what you want. Whether the E.A have made them turn it into one of those shity new type places with cars in metal frames you're not allowed to access yourself I don't know as I haven't been in probably ten years now.

The pics are in the facebook group that Danny has posted.

when I get more time though ill post some direct images on here for those who cant be arsed trawling through 1000 odd pics of other wrecks on the site.

I drove past Furbers (Prees) today. Had a quick glance in, but was fully suited and booted so didn't hang around. Don't think it would have made a good impression to arrive at an interview covered in 'Autoshit'.

Looked very hectic! Would have loved to have had a wander around.

Heading back over that way in a couple of weeks, so will try and have a proper nosey round then.

I must go check this place out one time. Not far from my old neck of the woods.

Volksy, you wuss! I was down at the scrapyard in my suit just the other week, lying on an old back seat squab on the floor, attempting to unbolt a front wing from the sill. To be fair I did take my tie off.

I go to the Roving Bridge site quite often. It's a true Health & Safety no go area!! Many's the time I slice part of my leg open or attempt to lose a finger. There is a silver 1984 R4GTL in there - it had a great interior in it. There was a mint gold R18GTS Mk2 in there about 18 months back. When I went back a week later to strip it, they'd accidentally crushed it!

They're always really good on prices for bits there and I often get some pieces of Megane free, as well as getting to look at the stored vehicles so I can put my name down on anything that takes my fancy. The snack van there is 'interesting'

The Prees site is for salvage and there's a lot there - but their prices are not the best. Some cars stored here are breakers and will get transferred to the Roving Bridge site.

O RLY.

I may well be passing that way next week in that case...

The other yard has lots more stuff including a whole yard full of lorries and diggers/tractors.

There are some massive sheds containing loads of motorbikes too.

I've been twice and just walked in - although they were happy for me to take pictures.
