RedSparrow Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hi chaps.Just a minor, petty irritation but can you make it so when you click a link in a thread it opens in a new tab/window? As it was with the old style board. Thanks!R
whitevanman Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 apparently it can't be done...so you have to right click and select "open in new tab"
outlaw118 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 ....Or if you're using a proper mouse thing, if you click using the wheel, it opens a new tab.
Mr H Sceptre Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 apparently it can't be done...so you have to right click and select "open in new tab" I believe this to be correct
pbottomley Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 apparently it can't be done...so you have to right click and select "open in new tab" It can be done its very simply, a small change to the code base all it requires.... IT does however require access to the base code of PHPBB3, and if management don't have access then that what makes it impossible. If they have got access then all they need do is the following: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/links-opening-new-windows/ It takes about 10 minutes of thinking and 5 minutes of coding and 60 cups of coffee and a few ciggies after to celebrate
Siestaboy Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Yes folks, I know this is on peoples wish list, and its a simple coding change, but am struggling to have any spare time at the mo. Will get round to it in the next couple of weeks Blakey
Lord Sterling Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Wow Blakey, was it you do? You always seem to be busy. Mind you, its better than sitting around doing nothing (Like me)
Siestaboy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I'm a freelance web developer, and in between clients, I'm building my own house here in Spain. My wifes also 8 months pregnant, hence a current frenzy of building work so the nipper actually has a room to sleep in! I only ever step in to help out or repair Autoshite occasionally, as Mr Sceptre and Mr Leyland are not the most technical of people!
Danblez Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 For goodness sake just download a decent web browser (firefox) with some terribly clever tab/window controlling add on (tabmixplus)
Mr H Sceptre Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 , Mr Sceptre and Mr Leyland are not the most technical of people! T'is true
morris_ital_lover Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Press Ctrl + Click at the same time and it opens in a new tab (you can use shift if you want it to open in a new window)... m0rris
M'coli Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ....Or if you're using a proper mouse thing, if you click using the wheel, it opens a new tab. This rocks! Personally, I don't find this issue with phpbb3 a problem.
outlaw118 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Glad to be of assistance. Thats the ONLY technical advice I will ever give that actually works. And I think I nicked it off someone else - probably Frederica Transit....
Station Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I cleaned up the title in the top right corner, it looked a bit blocky ...

Hope all goes well dude, I wish all you all the best and that all will come good together in the end. I'm still trying to get my life started, which, like a shite car just doesnt seem to be happening. I might some:
Siestaboy Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 @station Cheers for cleaning that image up for me. When I have a bit of time I will reupload your version. Think I grabbed an old copy of the pic of the 3 cars which had a high contrast on it, yours looks a lot more natural. Also I seem to remember that the original pic was taken in front of some flower beds with bright orange flowers which you can still see through the back windscreens on my version!!
Minimad5 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Wow Blakey! Hope all goes well dude, I wish all you all the best and that all will come good together in the end What he said !! And Mr Sterling - I wish you good luck too
