Hmmmm, a 6 series BMW so ugly it makes children cry, or one of these....

Maserati 3200GT

I've owned an Alfa, I know what I'd be letting myself in for!

The alloy XJs have slumped a bit pricewise, aren't going to rust, are bloody good on fuel for a luxobarge and the XJR was about £60k new. I have serious lustings for one, but I think mine looks better so I'd probably go for a V8 XJR the same shape as mine instead. They're already heading for £5995 territory, which I could justify.

Maserati Quattroporte (The good one, not the wonky one) is another "Hmm" on my list.

Bentley Turbo Rs. That's a whole lot of handbuilt (slightly wonkily if the truth be told) motor for £10k, and they were over £120k

Merc SELs. The temptation to buy a 2000 registered one of these is huge. Preferably a 600 'L' with about £20k worth of options. They're cheaper than half-sucked Werthers Originals at the moment so they've lost the best part of £10k a year, every year.

I'd happily have a DB9, L322 Rangie Supercharged, Bentley Continental GT because I honestly couldn't give a flying fuck about the image of the footballers who bought them new.

By the time I buy one the footy players will be in something completely different and the biggest problem a DB9 will have is know-it-alls on interweb forums calling them "Pub Landlord" wheels.

These'll be the same know-it-alls who look at something that isn't powered by a wheezing turdodiseasel and say "How many lamp-posts to the gallon do you get from that? Not many I'll wager. The tax must be expensive. Mine runs on veg oil y'know. You must be mad driving something like that. I drove a 2.0 Mondeo once, it only did 30 mpg. Waste of money. Don't know why you need a supercharged V8, turbodiesels are faster, it's the torque."

Turbo R Bentley or the equivelant Roller are fantasically cheap at the moment and really appealing. I suppose the good thing about people shitting themselves over fuel costs is the cheapness of such vehicles.
