Morris Ital

There's a Morris Ital parked in the next road, I pass it every day and it never seems to move. Its taxed till the end of the year and looks quite decent. I'm considering a knock on their door and asking if they want to sell (cheap). Want do you think? Would I be entering a world of pain and expense?

gave me no trouble in my ownership. it fact it was one of the most reliable cars ive ever had.

it went to mr b after and it required quite a bit of welding iirc. not sure what happened to it after that.

Asking Autoshite members if you should buy an Ital? What do you expect us all to say? You obviously want to buy it, if you didn't you would be asking on Piston Heads...

From a purely practical point of view an Ital is a thoroughly sensible idea. Plenty space, plenty of bits available and a decent enough car if you recignise it for what it is. Of course the are slow, have terrible handling, iffy interiors and naff styling. Your real-world friends will gossip sbout it behind your back and local yoofs will openly jeer and make hand gestures at you. But you'll probably be able to fix any problem with minimal fuss and arrive at your destination in style every time.

The ital estate I had was shit, but I don't remember any handling probs with it. It was one of the last with telescopic front shocks though. Infact I'd say it handled well!

POG! SLOW???

That thing was a little firecracker, on my way home from picking it up I out dragged a Pug 306, no idea what kind, but the bloke was seriously fkd off!

On the subject, I did a bit of door knocking about a late model gold Ital 1.3 - A141 YSJ - recently. No answer, but the back garden was full of bits. Turns out the fella works for First Scotrail, and has at the moment no-less than three "Eye-tals"... none for sale. Buggers!

He did the repairs to get it through another MOT, then sold it on Ebay.
