Been let down with a buyer for my Volvo 940 saloon. You know the story.. hold onto it for MONTHS and i'll deffo have it. Well, he didn't .

Its in Black, has done about 140k and is in pretty good shape. It has a bleed valve with a boost gauge a full S/S exhaust and high flow stainless cat, fuel ECU has been chipped and its got a nice posh BRINK detatchable towbar to lug around caravans- new tyres, too! Its bloody fast but a bit roly-poly round corners, as its a Volvo 940.

MOT is till Feb and theres no TAX.

Oh yeah, i'll consider a swap on small runabout. Or anything.

I have never owned a 940 saloon, which is quite shocking!

And yes of course I fancy it but I have just shelled out for a 535, Toledo and DAF and have to buy a washing machine AND fund Mrs T's holiday habit so unless you make me an offer that I can't refuse I shall remain 940 less.

It is very lovely though, quite smitten in fact

Has it got full leather?

No, half leathers. It has an electric drivers seat though (which doesn't work properly)

Torsten, I dunno what offer I could make! Got any swaps?

Posted

What about a Rover Metro, low miles and a new cambelt, 1.1 5 door with tax and test? K series but super sweet?

I forgot I had it but Les from BL Transverse has been using it as his daily for two years!

Might be tricky to prise it out of his hands!

Hummm... it would have to be in pretty good order, pretty free of rust AND be in a nice colour

But thats 3 wishes! It can't be done!

Any pics?

I think it's on about 30k and white, probably lots of t&t, can't remember. The only rust is in the roof by the hatch hinges as I recall and the story is I bought it, gave it to Les to MOT and he loved it so much I never got it back! Big history file I think!

That's it for swaps unless we're talking mopeds and bicycles....or Mrs T!

Cat?

The wife (who would be driving it most of the time) doesnt like white cars, but she does like Rover 100's. What year is it? Needs to be pretty tidy (thats another wish)

To be honest I just keep taxing it, it was pretty tidy but in need of a T Cut! I could go and get some photos at the weekend!

If Lankytim doesn't want it, I might be interested....

You could have my blue one in PX

BUMP, this needs to go pretty quickly as i'm taking the piss with the borrowed storage and the old Volvo is in very serious danger of being weighed in.

Had plenty of " YS M8 ILL GT IT TOMOZ" but not the actual cash in hand scenario I was hoping for.

nice! I had the Sport Estate which had the same turbo (HPT extra special boost) and you are right - bloody fast car

you can buy aftermarket roll bars form the states to improve the handling round corners - not that I ever found it that bad. Sadly I am moving on from my 1k a week job or I'd have this - will ask around for you - have you stuck it on the Volvo forum?

Posted

I would really like that, but I doubt my classic insurance would cover it and I find myself car rich and cash poor! Seems an insane motor for the money. Surely someone must want it?

Posted

Its been punted round a few forums including the Volvo one and there's been no real interest, apart from one or two people wanting to break it. Its worth much more than the asking price in spares but I simply don't have the heart to strip it! Now that the caravan has been sold there's a bit more storage space so there's no mega rush to get it sold now. The problem is the longer it stands the more chance there it it will eventually end up in the fragga.

I am so bloody tempted - whilst I love my 240 Torsdlanda - the 940 is a very very civilised place to be in the winter..........aaarrrgghh!!

Now read this very carefully... you are feeling sleepy..... very sleepy....you love this black Volvo and any niggling worries over fuel consumption and black paint being difficult to polish are simply melting away... you feel totally at ease with buying this car...you can picture yourself driving this car... you want it... you MUST have it.... you feel the need to pay the full asking price... when you finish reading this you will withdraw £350 from a cash point and give it to me in exchange for this lovely car.

And your back in the room.

LOL!

I'll call him in the morning, and see what he wants to do. I'm due down in Stoke to visit my mates in the next couple of weeks, so will try and get something arranged.
