OK, here's the problem - the BMW, my lovely fast, comfy, AWESOME BMW had to go this week to solve a nast little emergency cash flow crisis - this left me with a stable of:

 

the 850

the Sherpa Camper

 

the 240 Torslanda Estate turns up next week

 

now - 850 aside the 240 and the Sherpa share handling characteristics - wonderful machines but don't really get the mouth twitching upwards

 

the missus reuses to use the Sherpa as a runabout when the 850 is being used by others (fair enough you need forearms like popeye)

 

so the problem is what looks to her like a sensible option but is known to us as a hooligan and also what is cheap to run in this era of austerity but handles like a demon?

Nice! Obviously the 1.6 is the autoshite choice of the GTis (especially as they're bloody good fun - who needs a 1.9?).

 

It'll be rare to find one in original nick before long!

That's great. 205Gti who I came up to get the DAF from you with has a later 1.6 GTi in the same colour and I can confirm (not that you needed telling) that they are an absolute blast to drive.

 

Steering is a bit heavy when driving slow but there is an easy way to sort that......drive really fast all the time like an idiot and you are sorted.

I love the 205 GTi's, Such good fun to drive, with fantastic free revving nippy little engines, superb handling and easy to drive, What isn't there to love?

 

Red is my favorite colour for one as well, and that one doesn't look bastardised.

 

On and the 1.6 is the one to go for, The 1.9's are not really any better.
