I want the Gaffers Jag! Did the Datsun 1000 come after the Ado 16/1100?

Yes - introduced in Japan in 1966.Some nice stuff there, the red flappy boot Datsun is a 510 Bluebird, highly sought after here and worth megabucks in the states.

Aha, so it is his! I thought it might be. Seen it parked on his street a couple of times. I was friends with his daughter at uni and still bump into her occasionally. He had/has a pre-war Riley in he garage too so she said.

Amazing stuff EL. Messereeschmietette is cool! LOL at the Harrods comedy gold :D

Wowser, what a selection!

I do miss working in the smoke, all kinds of rammle rubs shoulders, conspicuously rich and rich but not shouting about it.

Does that Alfetta ever move? I am starting to think that ought to qualify as some kind of Autoshite GLASS COCK wherein points are deducted from a shiters photo score card for inclusion...

The body on the Transit Gown van looks a lot older than the van itself - looks like something dating from the '60's to me.R4 F6 (predictably) and Cav SRi for me please! Great shots, I do like London just for the amount of old tat still around in use.

Ooooh, I had this as a toy (Dinky? If so chances are my brother has it now), how I wanted a real one. Still do.

Hahaha, lets play spot the arabs outside harrods! I have heard that there are some arab types with luxuries such as BMW X5 convertibles! Anyways, epic spots!m0rris

M'colleague.

Not wanting to be pedantic, merely factually accurate, but I think you'll find this is an Alfa Romeo Guiletta as opposed to an Alfetta.

Posted

Yes, a Giulietta. Fiddlesticks, I feel like a right proper Charlie now. Thanks for being pedantic Mr HS, I would have done the same. Curse my feeble remaining braincell. M0rris those two massive offroader things were indeed on Saudi Arabia numberplates. There's no accounting for taste outside Harrods.

The Guilietta, Alfetta & Alfa 6 oddly all have the same wheelbase (& possibly doors too) but differing front & rear ends. Cost cutting within Alfa Romeo I suspect.

People often mention 'mad dashboards' and the like, but fug me if the centre console on that SM isnt ace. Love the handbrake..

They didn't change the design from maybe the 50s, but I am pretty sure this is on it's original chassis. It's an early Mk2 (V reg? can't quite tell) so only 2 years into the production of the mk2, hence the Mk1 rims and hub caps.

A schoolboy error, if I may say so, Mr Sceptre. The Alfa 6's wheelbase is a whole 90mm greater than the Alfetta and Giulietta's. The Alfa 75 and 90 both share the wheelbase of the Alfetta/Giulietta, though, being essentially updates of the earlier cars. I have read that the Giulietta and 75 doors are the same, and the Alfetta/Alfa 6's.You have no idea how long I've waited to deploy that information: I was beginning to think I'd have to take it to the grave with me.
