Here’s a few pics from this years show.
They close off the town centre and just park all the vehicles down the streets around the main square. More fill the car park behind the shops where there’s a small auto jumble too.
Theres waaaay more than what I photographed but it was too busy to get everything.

Rapier. Really nice car this.

Tis a Mk10. A very similar shape and mechanically identical, but longer and wider. A nice car, but they must have seemed very wide in 1961, being over 6ft wide when lots of cars were 5ft.

Edit:- Sorry, it's a 420G, which is the later version of the Mk10 with a 4.2 in it.

This had some presence so it got its own post!

Chrysler Newport imported from Canada. The lacing on the roof and sides wasn’t my thing but the rest was perfect. It wasn’t over restored or polished up, just clean and loved but with a bit wear here and there. Perfect really.

Apparently it’s been on YouTube too but it’s not one I recognise?

There was vastly more than this but I just couldn’t photograph everything.

I’m not one for doing the whole car shows thing. I’ve always thought my cars weren’t good enough to show.

But, lots of these were far from perfect. So it clearly doesn’t matter does it!?
I don’t mind imperfect but I’d always thought shows demanded perfection that I couldn’t give but seeing all these awesome cars just shows what a load of shite that was.
So next year I’ll probably take one of mine down if it’s not raining.

Dan, I've seen your cars.  Especially, I've seen your Capri!  Trust me, your cars are TOTALLY good enough to show!  I've seen a LOT of cars at shows and meets, at literally all levels of quality.  I'll PM you...

In other news, thank you for the white 1960 Cadillac :)  That very model and colour is one of the few Cadillacs I've driven that wasn't mine, roughly 20 years ago.

And by the way:  those first four cars you showed us?  I'd very happily run the set as my daily fleet for ever more.

That Viceroy!    Can't believe it exists at all, let alone looks so proper.

Just got home via Coleford, saw a lot of traffic and wondered what was going on.   Wish that I had stopped for a look around now.

Such a treat to have perfect weather on a bank holiday Monday.

Thanks for doing the report!

Definitely worth stopping in imho. If your around next year, do it.

I couldn’t believe that Viceroy. I spotted it out the corner of my eye from the other side of the car park and thought ‘noo, surly not!?’ Looked again and, yep! It is indeed!
It was in incredible condition too. One of those forgotten cars that was never really popular new but somehow it’s managed to survive. Thankfully. Couldn’t see anyone with it though otherwise it’d have been interesting to find out more about it.

Posted

I forgot to mention it, but it was worthy of mentioning.

There was a Wolseley six there too, that was very much like that Austin Cambridge above. Very well worn and definitely not a concourse contender. Couldn’t get a photo sadly with all the people around it.
But it was an impressive sight. Definitely an ongoing project car, as looking inside the carpet was out showing some hefty plating going into the drivers floors. The passenger side floor and inner sill was definitely not to MOT standard though… and by that I mean there were parts of it completely missing!😆

Good to see it running around still though.

I’ve only lived here a year and a bit now, but it was the neighbours that mentioned it to me not long after getting here. It’s an annual thing. Unfortunately last year it absolutely pissed it down which ruined it. I didn’t go because of the weather but this year was brilliant.
If your around the area I’d definitely recommend it, with or without your own car.

The variety is perfect imho, but there’s all sorts of other stuff too like the stationary engines display. One guy had a stall with loads of diorama’s and models, auto jumble and a few little other stalls, tractors and farm/plant stuff, even a model railway in the church.

some crackers there

Regards taking your cars to a show, I'm always of the option just do it, you'll never have the best car in the show and you probably won't have the worst so no point worrying about it

and even if you do have the worst, so what. there are still going to be people who will like it and want to see it

I picked up a leaflet at the Coleford show for Forest Vintage Show - Sunday 13 September at Speech House Hotel (GL16 7EL), which is another I’ve never been to. Maybe worth a look if your local though?
It says cars, trucks, tractors and other stuff.

I know there is a big show nearby somewhere where they do that sort of thing but include loads of old plant machinery which all gets actually used throughout the show. I’ll try to find out where & when.
