(With the usual disclaimer that im a fitter not a car mechanic), ive done a few cut it open smash the fire brick out and weld it up jobs now. Its not up to me to educate them. Its just pound notes 😁

If you go down that route you have to map it out. Seen a few of these where they’ve been knocked out on a driveway and it’s just caused a load of other shit because it’s not mapped out properly. The reason most fail over and above repeated failed regens is due to secondary component issues, leaking injectors, thermostat jammed open, ancillary problems like adblue tanks crystallising etc.

Absolutely. But ive just dealt with the hardwear. Apparently a lot of people will map it out but wont physically remove it. Must be some sort of line they feel they would cross by doing so.

It’s something people get on a moral high ground about for some reason until they are faced with £2000 to fix it properly or £300 to make it go away forever.
 

I get it though if you were working in an MOT bay all day long because it will stink and it won’t be doing your lungs a shit ton of good neither.

Doesnt seem to run cool, it seems to get to half way on the temp readout. Unless I investigate further im not sure what the cause is. Ive got until April to sort it, I'll like just chuck it into the garage and have them sort whatever it is out.
