Anyone got a car transporter locally?

I'm getting removed out of my garage, and my car (lacking in a few minor things like windscreen, indicators, things that make it unroadworthy) needs to be removed. Basically got 7 days to get everything out/sold/binned. I've had the garage for 6 years, but fell behind at the start of the year and owe some back rent and they said I could move out and just write the debt off as I've been there so long.

Arrgh. I can't think of anyone at the moment. I'll keep trying.

Register and then pop your details on this site..

http://www.shiply.com/

Put the details of the car, where it is and where it's going, either a fixed date or flexible one and you'll get quotes emailed to you.

I've had quotes of £45 all in to move a car 18 miles and a quote of £125 to fetch a car from Newcastle to Somerset.

Either that or try the pony express on Retro Rides just incase someone is passing through.

I've a mate in Wigan with an A frame......he would be happy to move it for you :)

I normally just pop down a local garage and ask if they know anyone. They normally know some guy with a 20yr old transit flatbed who will happily move it for you for £25. I have never had them reappear and take my cars to the weighbridge when I am out.

Had one of them come round my house once though to see if they could store an XJ6 on my drive as they had run out of room and liked my nice long drive.

I liked that idea but i was over-ruled.

Where are you, Station? I know a couple of blokes in Southport who could certainly help...

yeah where are you, I am in Manchester and had a guy move my Herold on a flat bed, Only charged me a tenner and he was reliable and did all the work. didn't have to go far must admit but I said I would pass his details around if someone needs him.

There's a bloke called Wayne on Cleveland Street who may just be able to help, runs round in a shabby old Mk3 Transit with a two tone paint job and lights all over it. Next to Neptune Car Spares I think.

No windscreen isn't an offence, and a sign in the back saying "HAND SIGNALS IN USE" should allow you to take it from A to B without much hassle. Either that tow it.

Ask at a local scrapyard, there'll be any amount of geezers milling around who will shift your motor for a fiver and sack of Winalot.

Already cleared half of the crap in there - a full car load straight to the tip.

Good idea on the asking at a scrapyard thing, I expect you'd get some "undred quid mate" chancers, but I reckon could get it cheap, seeing as it's only going 3 miles! Thanks for your help everyone!!

I've had a crazy idea of swapping the number plates from my MOT'd/taxed Astra onto the other one and driving it home ...

Keep It Cheap recovery will move it for you. He is based in Wallasey.

Is Keep It Cheap real? Seems a bit too tempting with a name like that.

Is that the AA trigger?

I've still got to clear it with using the folk's driveway after I've just cleared two off after 2 years.

God knows, I saw the advert in the Ipswich flyer whilst in the hospital yesterday, This thread just reminded me to check the website out, That photo must be at least 20 years old!

Cavette knows someone, I've rung him before. All the lads I know will only do the Manchester area.

If SCTSH_ANDY's Discovery wasn't jiggered due to EPIC RUST I'm sure he would have helped you.
