The above photo was topic of conversation last night in a small Italian car group that I’m a member of on fb.

The photo was apparently taken in the UK. You can see the Italian plate behind the QF plate. Any ideas as to its origin? I’ve never seen anything like it before. Again the photo was apparently taken in the UK, and to me the font looks correct, but other than that I suppose it could be anywhere..

Suggestions on a postcard etc..!

The Q series was used to signify a car temporarily registered in the UK, so it's possible this chap brought it with him on a fixed-term contract, and registered it accordingly.

I had an internet argument on FB about these plates, and ate humble pie when he turned out to be right. Turns out there were Q plates before there were Q plates

My head's full of trivia like this.  It's nice to have a use for some of it!

QF was issued between 1954 & 1955, according to the book A History Of Motor Vehicle Registration In The United Kingdom by LH Newall.
