Try these guys in Burradon.

https://austrin-engineering.co.uk/

They're a very professional outfit and rebuilt my transit custom gearbox with a new clutch and flyweel. Dropped it off one day and picked it up next day all done. They've just rebuilt the autobox on my mate's 2018 large jeep something or other.

Just called them, let's just say that the quote they gave me was about double of what I'd pay at a renowned specialist. They probably do a good job but without them being experts for this particular gearbox they'd probably not be my first choice.

Had a chat with the local LR specialist (who was out earlier because of a breakdown recovery, naturally). They could fit the gearbox but no earlier than mid-September... They also gave me a trusted supplier but they only supply gearboxes for P38s and older...

Which means Ill probably go with Birch 4x4 in Liverpool who @DirtyDaily suggested. They can jump on this straight away, have a collection service, decent prices and seem to have good reviews. If anyone has had any work done by them before let me know!

Obviously its not my money but personally at this price level I'd gamble on a used box and TC from a relatively known source, give it a full service, stick in some Dr Tranny and hope for the best.

When I was quoted thousands to rebuild the E46 ZF, this option was the only economically viable one based on the value of the car. Thankfully it paid off which is just as well as the willing gentleman who changed the box has had enough of that kind of job for a while now 😅

Unfortunately garages round my way weren't interested in gambling with me but NorthernMonkey did a brilliant job!

Just got home from a weekend on the beer in Leeds to find a BCA envelope through the door and this parked on the drive (which was due to be delivered on Wednesday?)…

Range Rover number 4 on the fleet so I’ve got enough on my plate at the minute, cheers!! 😂

Full disclosure, i havent used them just saw the service and thought it seemed a decent price for what they were suggesting. Have you spoken with them and did they confirm our diagnosis of a likely e clutch failure?

Yes and yes, they seem very experienced in exactly this job and naturally just recommended doing all the things (1400 quid is the quote without a new torque coverter (about 350 quid and solenoids, another 300 quid). Had I known yesterday I would have probably driven it over straight to them!

Rollercoaster collection. Hopefully it'll do sterling service with the box sorted.
