I found just one video on YouTube where a French guy was doing this job and he used a plumbers tool of some sort. @grogee found me something promising on eBay so I've splurged £20 on a super deep socket which should have enough depth. My only worry is when I do get something that will work, the hut has been bashed in by someone as a kind of lock for the nut. Hopefully it will undo with enough force! It's like a hub nut, you bend the edge in to lock it in place. You'll need a (my) ugga dugga gun to release it. But, I think you said something about new nut must be in same position? If so, you'll need to count the turns somehow. Cluffy 1
Cluffy Posted Friday at 21:02 Author Posted Friday at 21:02 Evening All, Several steps forward, but maybe one back with XJ today. Local reliable mechanic sorted be out with just 1 1/2 hours labour to replace suspension compressor, remove front bumper for bulbs and replace a parking sensor and to replace a rotten brake shield that was rattling. Very well worth it... But what's this? "Weird thing, when we took it for road test, the DPF Message came on". Ello... Yep, same for me, when I picked it up. Well, that's unexpected. I do use this car for the 8 mile commute to work, but typically do a load of miles on the weekends and last weekend, did about 480 miles to Sheffield, County Durham and back to the Midlands. Never once had this before... I'll be doing some miles tomorrow and then may take it for a blast on the m40 on Sunday. Hopefully that sorts, but if not, anyone ever done a home remedy DPF clean?
