Up the road from me.... M-plate Subaru Justy 4x4.

It's parked on the road so I'd imagine taxed and tested but not been able to stop to find out how much. I can do if anyone's interested. Looks nicely shite, but nice too - no visible rust, pretty tidy in fact.

£350 in the window.

"up the road" is about 5 minutes from M1 J28.

Is it an old-style one? I think M was the change-over plate.

Bit far away, but I can commend it to any shite-ist. They are pretty much unbreakable as small cars go.

My dad owned one of these, endless problems with the gearbox and engine. Not sure if it was due to wear or just shite!

I say go for it!

It is the old shape one, yeah.... I looked at the hand-written signs today and no mention of tax or MoT though, and it's now parked on a grass verge.

Was it a Suzuki-based one?

The 'proper' ones are indestructible.

The "old shape" was current when I worked for International Motors back in the '80s, at high mileages, they do have a habit of destroying their synchro rings so either get used to double-declutching down the box, usually from 3rd to 2nd to 1st, or whip the 'box out and overhaul it, they're simple enough transmissions apart from the takeoff to the rear which does tend to make it a labour-intensive kind of a thing to do.

One of the most common "faults" we had reported back from the dealers was that owners were getting the cars stuck in 4wd. The cure? find some slippery mud, drive a few yards backwards, then press the button and the rear drive would disengage with a bang. The cause? No centre diff, so unless tyres were perfectly evenly worn front to rear, and the driver only ever drove in straight lines when on tarmac, the transmission would wind up something chronic.

But yes, buy one, they're deffo full of the things that render a car shiteworthy. :D

I would love one of these, having had the chance to ride in a few when my relatives owned them. Great little cars, the 'old shape' ones do seem to survive pretty well but they do rot pretty bad sometimes. A true shite Justy would be the even older shape, but theyre impossible to see now.

This is probably as cheap as you can get one, they seem to hold a moderate amount of value.

Would you love one to the tune of £350?

I'll deliver it if it's legal, quite fancy a blat in one myself!
