Well, after due consideration, I've decided I need,.........a shite Estate. Must be fairly commodious, and the more unusual the better, and must be capable of towing a single axle caravan. Cash waiting.........

Starting to think it's time for a change of scene. Currently has 16v seats for the driver and rear passengers, 16v driver's door card (with one-shot windows) but all the trim and door cards and a passenger seat can come with the car. Long T&T, £450.

Known issues. Starter motor will need replacing as it gets a bit slow at times. I've been meaning to replace it for the last 10,000 miles...

Otherwise, I've hurled hundreds of pounds at it and would jump in it and drive anywhere. It's already been to Scotland, France, Belgium, Germany, Luxumbourg, Monaco and Spain. Since September. 45-55mpg FTW!

I can concur that the 1.7TD will tow a caravan with ease - I used to pull our Swift Corvette GT five berth with one.

The 1.9 also tows OK, but a bit slower off the mark.

The Hydropneumatic suspension makes a MAHOOOOSIVE difference when towing - no more airy fairy steering when somethong comes past.

Also by owning a BX you will be beating quim off with a shitty stick*...

I should confirm that this is a 1.9 non-turbo diesel, but it will shift - you just have to learn how to drive it. Thrashing it is pointless. Keep it between 2000 and 3000rpm and it's surprisingly brisk. Just feels odd to be driving quickly at such low revs!

It easily towed the Bond (about 900kg) on a car trailer, though as the car trailer weighed more than 200kg, I refuse to confirm whether that was above the recommended towing weight of 1100kg in total. Hydro suspension is definitely win-worthy.

It's also a real blast on twisty roads. I fitted a pair of Hankooks to it last winter and it grips far more than you expect with really nice steering for a PAS set up.

Hmmm. Do I really want to sell it?

Hmmm. Do I really want to sell it?

Possibly not,

I sold my 1.7 NA TGD - the slowest car known to man and have regretted doing so ever since.

I now have a 998cc Micra, possibly the second slowest car known to man.

I'll get another BX some day. But it has to be a non sunroof one.

The caravan I used to tow in the background - weighted in at 1100Kgs MTPLW - the white one is Vera BitchQueenFrom Hell the TZD turbo, the red one is the 1.9N/A-D

Lovely, but a little rusty in places and with shagged driveshaft. But it did pull my caravan a treat - sold to buy.....

Which was possibly the slowest car in the universe, but being PAS free it jumped up bloody quickly when switched on.

Went, out of curiosity, to look at a Merc 300 TE. Advertisor forgot to mention in the advert that it had an l.p.g conversion, needless to say I bought it, 90k miles, very sound [no rot] £1200

Can't quite make it out in the picture you posted. Is it quite far away??

i did really really bad things to a bx many moons ago with a sledgehammer and a pick-axe (was a good car till it had an interior fire after that i couldnt shift it)
