I bought this yesterday.

I had a QX before, and was quite impressed with it, but being a 2-litre V6 its bark was very much worse than its bite. This one's a 3-litre, and it's a completely different beast. It's much more relaxed on the dual carriageway due to more torque and higher gearing, and it doesn't seem to use much more fuel on a run. And when a spotty chav in a grey Leon Cupra tries to barge past you on the Norwich ring road, a press of the Sport button and a squeeze of the throttle quickly makes him look rather silly. Great fun, if slightly childish.

It also has a rather nice black leather interior.

It needs a bit of TLC - it has a ding in the OSF wing and the aircon compressor has a knackered bearing - but it's had a shiteload of money spent on it in the last couple of years so hopefully it'll turn out to be a good 'un.

Edit: Oh, so that's where my camera case went. I've spent the last ten minutes looking for that.

I have a soft spot for these. Sure, they're anonymous, but I reckon that they're not a bad drive (just like a big Almera in that respect) and are likely to be more reliable than an Omega, fr'instance.

Do the 3-litre autos eat gearboxes like the earlier Maximas did? I think that's the only weak point, pretty much.

They don't seem to. I can only go on what I've seen for sale, but the gearboxes on these seem to last a lot better than on the contemporary 3-litre Camrys, for example. The 'box on this certainly seems OK.

Looks a lovely cruiser that will give more than a few boy racers a nasty shock :)

I'd roll that. Nice buy. :)

Nice! I must chase up about that Camry V6 at some point soon, be interesting to compare them.

I love QXs! They used to be popular with the 'ERHABE' crowd back in the day.

I also have the first UK launch brochure which is the size of a record sleeve and mega comprehensive.

Just reminded me, I saw a 02 plate Camry the other day in Stratford, I never even knew they made them that late.

They still produce them... Sadly no import to western europe anymore.

Yeah I remember when they were current they were incredibly cheap and unpopular, never understood why.

If something is automotive different to what everyone else is driving then it gets my vote.

Hey GJR11, any chance of shrinking your sig pic a bit? It takes up 1/3 of the page on my poxy little 'computer'.

Yeah shrink it or we'll come around your house and tie you to your chair and make you listen to Roger Whittaker. :x

Doing it now......

There we are, sorted. Sorry 'bout that Mr_Bollox.

Harper old chap, feel free to come round with Roger and I'll fire up the gramophone.

I saw a 3.0L one up for sale near me, astoundingly it had a fabric interior! Phoned up and the guy had already taken a deposit on it sadly.

These Japanese barges are great. I've always fancied a Honda Legend, a car that seems even less popular than the Citroen C6 in this country.
