Just received the logbook through for my Cabriolet after I applied for it after the previous owner had lost it and noticed that it has had 16 former keepers! - seems ridiculously high for a 20 year old car!whats the highest number of former keepers everyone has seen on a V5 form?

In about 1990 or thereabouts my brother bought a mini clubman for £80 from the local auctions, the logbook showed 19 former keepers, it never made it to 20 funnily enough (unless you include the rag and bone man who gave him a fiver for it less than a week later, the only time I ever remember my mother using foul language of that magnitude)

I think I was the 25th owner of my Porsche 944!!!!It had been everywhere in the country more or less, and was fairly ropey given the amount of arses that had been sat in the drivers seat! My mate did own a roller that had 46 owners!!!!!!

You do find that cars like Escort Cabriolets/Porsches etc often have alot of owners as people fancy a cabriolet for the summer then go off the idea when we get a bad summer (pick almost any one from the 00's) so they sell it and cars that are alot of money to run/insure people only keep them for a while as they cant afford them. Pregnancy can play a part in these cars remaining with owners for a short amount of time (out with the 2 seater in with the Passat).

yeah thats what I thought. People dont like the idea of a car standing in the garage for most of the year I suppose. For what I paid for it though, I don't mind. Ill use it for the 'summer' then sorn it probably.

My Audi Coupe had something like 17 previous owners, but it was in pretty good nick considering.

When I sold my Scorpio 4x4 back in 1998 it was on its 12th owner, fairly high for a car that was 12 years old. Mind you, it was a troublesome beast :)

Cabrios are easy to make money on too, no effort necessary - buy one in September, dry store it till May, sell on for 120%. Half those owners have probably done 5% of the miles!

As the registration document shows the number of keepers, not owners. You could be lucky and the previous 16 keepers could have financed it through the same company, which would make you the second owner, assuming that you've paid for it. Added value for when you want to sell it.

Conversely, I am only the second keeper of my 1972 Yamaha 250.I got it in 1986.

My 95 N-reg Sterling has something like 16 previous owners. Been meaning to get around to contacting the DVLA to see exactly how long each owner owned the car for.

And I thought my 2000 Galloper had many former owners when I bought it in 2008 and became the fifth owner.

23 previous owners on two of the cars I've had. One was an RS1600i Escort, can't remember what the other was.

my current car has 10 owners - better than some of my 1 owner cars...

Sounds a good price, lets hope we get some nice weather this summer so you can enjoy the benefits of it. 2007/2008/2009 gave three very wet summers in a row I hope 2010 doesnt follow this pattern. The met office have given up their seasonal forcasts after getting so many wrong, predicting heat waves for the last few summers and when they predicted a mild winter for 2009/2010 they decided to call it a day. The best website I have found for seasonal forcasts is 'The Weather Outlook Two' http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/ they predicted both the winter 2008/2009 and winter 2009/2010 as being colder than average and back in January predicted Spring 2010 would be on the cool side. For the last few years the press have felt the need to say that we are gonna have the hottest summer ever and we havent, still if we get three hot days in a row I feel the papers may well say another 1976 or 1995 summer is on the cards (one of those two years being the hottest ever in the UK depending where you are)Sorry to take this thread of course just to bring it back summers and cabriolets.
