Golf diesel anyone?

Anyone want a Golf 1.9 diesel? 'L' reg five door (Mk3?) with n/a engine. Drives ok and mechanically great but the bodywork is truly appalling. In fact it's fucking horrible. The tailgate has rot (lots of it) and there's various bit sof rust/patching up on the bodywork.Tested until next week (14th May iirc) out of rent and will need an almighty clean/tidy up, but can probably at least wash it first.I'll cast an eye over it and see if I can spot any likely MOT fails and post below, for now would imagine tailgate will cop out due to jagged edges.£250, collection only from West Cheshire. Pictures/better details to follow.

Right, it's a CL TURBO dizzler. 104k on the clock, mechanics seems fine and runs/pulls well.Bodywork horrible as stated but a cursory look round reveals only these potential MOT fails:Tailgate badly rotten, gaffer tape should be good enough for test. On the passenger side floor there seems to be some sort of rubber drain bung type thing, seems a bit crispy around there so will probably need a weld. Brakes work but have seen much better.Oh, there's no stereo in it either.I'm not a mechanic or MOT tester so come and have a look or take it for an MOT if you like. Pictures here later when I've picked the thing up.GR8 4 RAT LUCK as all the ageing has been done for you.

GR10 4 VEG OIL if it's the pre-TDi engine.I could be interested in this, but it's a bit salty.

The VW T25 boys love this engine to stick in their vans coz it hasn't got the electrickery of the TDi and all the mounts etc are available off-the-shelf, get it advertised on volkszone/brickyard/club 80-90 and remember to add scene tax!

Any resemblance to a nice tidy car is completely accidental. It's pretty wank.

Ps if anyone knows how much scene tax I can add to it please pm me, thanks.

Put some wank chrome hub-caps on him and drop him into the weedz then its OMG RAT LOOK INIT MK3 GOLF NOT CAMPER/ESCORT/AE86.

Hmm, good thinking. Maybe I could spray the bonnet matt black, make a balsa wood dashboard kit and plaster it in '68' stickers or whatever they do? :D

Shame about that ding on the driver's rear door, you could have got away with a poundland half respray if that wasn't there. If it's still got a weeks test on it and they are quick, the buyer could tax it from the 1st of this month.....

Those TDi engines are fugging rapid to say they're one of the "old school" diesels before it went all technologicalist. Also remember the Mk3 is a fairly heavy beast and they hustle along with pleasing haste, easily as good as the holy grail of cheap diesels, the Pug 306.Shame it's so rusty, it would put most people off but panels are easily got, that's a very popular colour, and another couple of hundred would make it look nice.

It's not a TDi, it's a TD - with 75bhp or thereabouts. The TDi was one of the first 'technologicalist' diesels, with Bosch electronic diesel control and all that gubbins - still mega-simple compared to unit injectors and common fail though.I owned a Golf 1.9D for a while and I found it quite nippy. The bhp figure was quite poor, but it had the same torque as a 1.6 petrol.

Sorry, yes, TD - I knew the engine but my fingers got carried away.My friend had an N-plate GL with th TD, feels a lot more than 75bhp!

so is it OK with veg or not?

GR11 with veg. If I recall correctly, these engines even have a 'choke' which is a manual timing advance - leave it out all the time to help the veg combust.

Performance wise it's mustard. Very quick through the gears with plenty of punch, probably a bit quicker than a BX turdblow diseasel and they're pretty rapid.Someone on RR has suggested the rubber floor bung thing probably won't be an MOT fail so that's one less job if anyone wants to take the fucking thing on.
