anyways, in answer to the £10k question..... theres three options rumbling around in my head......

Build kit car with 2l duratec on throttle bodies, then track it a bit...... (i kind of like this plan, so i already have a chassis, and the engine from my now deceased mondeo in strorage).....

2wd ford ranger, with OM606 engine, and some sort of american pick up body dropped over the top..... (probably stretching the budget a little, but i already have the ranger with a blown up engine sat in the yard, and my 'daily' is slowly (actually pretty quickly) rusting away, but has the powertrain in.....)

A35 van, with a CG13de engine (probably with a turbo, because, why not), a 5 speed gbox (possibly options here are mx5 (probably too big, but i have one) Suzuki 413 (possibly too old and might be knackered, but again, i (sort of) have one), or sensibly, a jimny box.... again, this is an idea i really fancy building, so i have a van and a few other bits and bobs squirrelled away already......

Frankly, if i even have money and time, i could probably build some pretty cool stuff......

I would have thought any number of engines would drop in to the A35, there is so much room in there with the normal A series. I would never have thought of a Micra, I even had to Google what a CG13de is but it makes perfect sense, a lightweight all alloy 16v sounds perfect.

yeh, sorry, could have made that a bit easier to understand..... as you say, K11 micra engine.... im actually 'looking' for one at the moment (in quotations, as im just sort of looking at the moment, unless one turns up close to home, ideally in 'rusty mot failure' but otherwise decent shape, it'll be a while before i go shopping properly) My thinking is, if i can find a rusty, but otherwise decent one, i can weld it up in a weekend, and mot it, then leave it sorned in case of needing it, and just use it for autotesting locally, which is somethign id love to have a go at, but never really had a suitable vehicle... then when i finally weld up the A35 shell, i can just pillage the micra for bits....

Theres a bit more logic to it as well, it would remain at 1275cc (ie standard 'big bore' a series) which means (i think) i can just about creep into the realms of 'historic' without losing its status etc not that its any great dramas in the grand scheme of things, but a fun little challange!! Also, supposadly, the micra family of engines was based around the a series waaaaaaay back when they first started using it, which give it a bit of historical 'correctness' (not that i really care)
