I just remembered it because of the comment about the Lancia Stratos toy car getting wedged under the carpet. I had the Matchbox BMW M1 in my collection of racing cars when I was a kid - I remember mine had weak suspension compared to the other cars I had. I also had a number of these in varying liveries:
