Dear god thats slightly well used! Out of interest, what was it traded in for? Funny how the wheels still have some shine, I see so many rusty old cars with such well kept rims.

they traded it in for a new Panda at £4995. Wheels I doubt are the original ones

no probs, would anybody object if i post any more scrappage pics? including the hopefully big save tommorow.

I don't mind the pics, it's all the whinging afterwards when someone provides even mild criticism of what is happening. Not many people on here like the scheme, even less have the money to do anything about "saving" the cars. Try not to take it personally when someone comments on how much of a waste it is and it'll be a less painful thread for everyone, I'm sure you don't intend to do it but it comes across like you've got a chip on your shoulder about the whole thing.

understand where your coming from hirst, but have you read some of the comments about me?

It's a two way thing FD. Hopefully if you ease back a touch, the whingers will can it. As Hirst said, enough has been written about this! (but the pics will be interesting).

the problem is when i post the pics, the whingers attack, but why should i not post the pics?

Tell you what, if you cant manage to rise above (i.e. ignore) some internet grumbling, best not post the pics. If you can, by all means post em as i'd like to see em.

I'd like to see the photos, Just don't want to read the following dozen or so pages of moaning and bitching. As Bo1 says, Post the photos but don't respond to the moaning posts and then no-one can moan at you.

Posted

I can't see people grumbling if you've saved something.... but yeh, dont rise up to it (or start it) and it wont be a problem. And remember sarcasm does not work when it's written down....

no probs,,owner comes in about a scrappage deal on another car, now needs a new van for work, can't now redo a scrappage deal .so not strictly a scrappage now ,its still a save.negotiations should be sorted by close of play the morra.btw in my last scrappage post i did put no moaning in the title!and i have saved 2 so far, nobody stepped up to the mark so the banger boys got them, whats worse.anyway, hopefully good news the morra!

there is nothing wrong with posting the pics then it goes along the lines off=what a wastethat car looks mintmore what a wastei would have thatmore what a wastethat car is better than mine scrapage is shit then you come over as if you love the scrapage systemthen the insults start to flywhich is the time to cull the thread  i dont have anything against you as you are only doing your job, if it wasnt for scrapage then a good few garages might well be sheding jobs or even going under so in that aspect it has worked.its just a real shame that a few rarer cars have been lost along the way, dont take my post the wrong way its just the way it looks from this side off the fence while reading the threads on scrapage.you are not alone in your posts being taken the wrong way as i too am not that good in wrighting down exactlly what im thinking  it is always better to speak face to face then you can tell when people are cross happy or just down right ignorant.

At least two scrappage cars going to the track means that two other cars didn't, so that's something.

i think its a shame for the rare ones aswell, but when nobody will buy it,and the owner wants a new car, what does he do?look at the forum member that sold the £395 micra, nobody bought it apart from a twunt that wanted to return it.that has been my big point about the scrappage scheme.and my post count is going up.

yup it probably is the easy option which is why i am always willing to take a hit by tradeing in rather than sell private  i really cant be arsed with the hasle that selling brings and i just know when i come to sell my nav it will be a minefield,

I think we all get a bit annoyed because there isn't an easy way around the system if you want to save a car. We don't so much have a problem with an owner wanting a nice new car and taking a good incentive, it's more the fact that the opportunity to save the scrappage car is limited even if we wanted to.The first obstacle is that you have to try to justify paying £2000 for a car worth £500 in real terms in order to persuade to owner to let you have it rather than scrap it.The second problem is the fact that the car must be scrapped. You can't go along to the holding yard and buy a car that has passed an inspection to say it is good enough to continue to be used or something. What if all the tidy low mileage cars were lined up and you could take your properly shagged old shitter along and pay a reasonablely low price for a tidy V-reg Golf or something, like a two tier system?Chummy gets his new car, government gets the VAT, Tom Shiter gets a decent motor (or Hillman Hunter), government/manufacturer gets a bit of cash back form T. Shiter Esq and the environment gets rid of a smoky Mondeo or Rover 200.

That's a great idea in hindsight but sadly that's far to easy for our government to justify, I totally agree though, That would of been enough to keep everyone happy.

Or just put all the trade ins in an auction and get somewhere in the region of 25 million quid back?Hang on.........25 million quid.............Or give them all to a scrap metal dealer for next to fuck all........Hmmmm. Tough one that.

Well yeah, but there are an awful lot of cars with MoTs that are a bit near the knuckle I'm sure!
