grizz Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 Still struggling to get sleep, not cough my lungs out and taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol (paracetamol) along with Benylin every 6 hours. So I have driven around in the Oldsmobile quite a bit. Loving it. Today I refitted the spare wheel and all the new parts that came with the car back into the trunk. Best place ehhh. I had emptied it all out two weeks ago or more. Bringing the wet stuff indoors, allowing it to dry. In the meantime, we had a load of rain, and not a drop or any condensation in the trunk. Currently there just isn’t anything to point at a place or reason for water or moisture ingress. I will keep an eye on this. Also vacuum cleaned the inside and then laid the new cream floor mast down. Let’s see how long this lasts. . eddyramrod and 93fxdl 2
grizz Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 200 miles done since the last MOT test. Hard to believe. Fingers crossed nothing has degenerated out of sight in the last year. Parked next to a newer Kia Sportage, it’s hard to believe it’s actually smaller than the Kia in width and length. Modern cars ehhhh. . eddyramrod, Westbay and Essex V6 3

grizz Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Seen a couple of pics with Oldsmobile 88’s with different front grilles and possibly headlights. Anyone done this before?? Ideas on cost of replacing the headlights and grille with either new or junkyard parts?? I personally really like and prefer the “Cadillac look” Pics below. Advice, experience etc appreciated. Especially if you have actual experience. .
Westbay Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Are you thinking of this for asthetic reason or are your's knackerd ? Have you factored in that most likely you will have source the items required from USA , shipping , tax etc ... 😇 How about checking out your local breakers and getting one or two grilles you like and modifing the inserts to that type of grille ? Or just dechroming the headlight surrounds ? ps I take it the Cadillac one is the 'egg crate' one , in which case I prefer the original 😂
grizz Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Huh…??? What…..????? My Oldsmobile 88 had it’s American style RED indicators in the rear lights relocated to the rear bumper, changing the clear reverse lights to AMBER indicators. If you look at the layout, it may make sense why it’s not ideal, and why I want to relocate them back into the rear light clusters, if: 1.) I can get the colour right inside the red lenses. 2,) I can figure out all the wiring done to relocte both indicators and original reverse lights. It looks quite chaotic. So the question is: Yellow and Red makes Orange (amber) Has anyone done this before, using some type of yellow LED light or similar, to create a yellow (amber) indicator light? I do want to refit the reverse lights in the bumper beside the license plate and want the brightest light I can find as my alleyway beside the house is dark. Also….. Foglight ?? Any advice, links to slimline maximum 30mm wide and 100mm long LED type foglights to replace the existing haemorrhoid dangling out back. Some pics to illustrate and demonstrate what I mean. Thanks for sharing your experience. .

grizz Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Earlier this week I picked up a load of steel and brass about 35 miles away for @pauly to use on his lathe for practice. I had also picked up a new, free, push mower for Kevin to use on their gardening allotment. So I delivered it to him. While there we tried out some small LED indicator lights that I could use on the Oldsmobile. Ultimately, it didn’t work and I am still looking for alternatives. Yesterday, I Changed ownership for Oldsmobile to my name online yesterday (seller let me use his road tax for a month) so technically, the £20.00 fuel and £32.00 in road tax from him discounts the purchase price by £50.00 Also put the freshly MOT’d Chevy Astro on SORN ( Statutory Off Road Notification) Not planning to use it till spring. So paying road tax for two, three months is a waste of almost £100.00 I was playing with some vinyl stripes on the Oldsmobile on Friday when rain let up for a while. If I proceed with painting the car, it will be in various stages. Roof first. Then Hood/Bonnet Then Trunk/Bootlid. Now if you just separate the actual hood and trunk lids, it leaves you with a section of transition between glass and vertical body sides. That transition to me, is indicated by the swage line the neon yellow line made. So incorporate above the line in hood and trunk paint, done in various Lowrider style graphics. And make below the line a solid, bright, metallic colour. Something like the colour on the Astro van or even Pedro’s Ford Fiesta. Though that’s possibly too light. I also added a small black pinstripe at the bottom of the C-Pillar to indicate the end of the roof colour and graphics. No…….. Not painting it yet, weather is not good enough to get paint down. If I had access to a warm, dry booth it would be different. Looking outside right now……… RAINING .

Thanks for taking the time, but I don’t know how people get to that hideous conclusion. It was kinda cool 30 years ago. History. The original Volkswagen Polo Harlequin was introduced in 1995. Originally created as a marketing, promotional, or special edition, it featured a multi-colored exterior (Tornado Red, Ginster Yellow, Chagall Blue, and Pistachio Green) to showcase the model's modularity. Due to high demand, 1,000 units were produced. Key details regarding the original 1995 Harlequin: Model: Based on the Mk3 Polo (known as the Harlekin in Europe). Production: 1,000 units were initially created in 1995. Origins: The design was inspired by a 1960s VW Beetle advertisement that highlighted interchangeable parts. Later Version: A North American Golf Harlequin was produced in 1996.

grizz Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 Good morning I am interested in buying a set of four aluminium wheels from a seller in North West London But after my last cockup of getting to the seller of some wheels, only to be told the wheels had been “stolen” I am loathe to do the whole ULEZ/Dartford toll/140 miles trip to collect some wheels. So I guess the question is, whether anyone else works/travels in NW London but comes to Kent regularly, who could pay for and collect the wheels and bring them back this way. Always worth asking.
grizz Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Raining on and on. So not a lot going on. Yesterday I was chatting with a very frustrated friend. Her mum unfortunately is a ways down the dementia road, also a cancer survivor. To the extent of them now having to make her world safe around her. Julie is 68, so you get the idea. She was looking for a way to get the medication safe in the house as her dad cannot control everything that happens. She was online looking for lockable boxes or cabinets. So I told her I had quite a few boxes in the garage. From tool lockers to key cabinets. After deciding on one, I went and cleaned, sanded and painted it for her. Added a really cheap Chinese lock (just to keep mum out) and some trim stripping and pink vinyl. Saturday morning I am heading to Colchester, Essex to meet up with PaulY to deliver his box of steel and brass I collected last week, and then meeting Julie for some lunch and a chat with her black box. Painting in the garage with a temperature of 5’C and rain outside, my bargain Dewalt heat gun (remember that bargain buy?) was perfect for warming the box up after sanding the surface to key it well, and wiping it clean. So between coats I gently applied more dry heat. Result is very satisfying. But I need to do more careful and DIY stuff,,without the weather getting in the way. Weekend soon. .
