Save some shite!

Hey guys, got sent in this direction by Mr. Scruff of this parish.

Bit about me first; I'm Matt, 16 years old for another painful month from not-so-sunny Southend, Essex, i've got a 1952 Series 1 Land Rover which needs lots of love and i'm not here solely to sell stuff! :lol:

Dad needs to sort some out-standing things and raise a bit of cash as he's gonna be in hospital a fair bit in the coming months (not ideal when you're self employed!) and threatened to scrap the Carlton. Needless to say, i nearly cried.

1992 Vauxhall Carlton GSi3000 24V. It's red too!

It's been off the road for about 7 years, of which it's spent about 5 years in dry storage. Was brilliant, had the timing chains and general massive engine overhaul little over 10,000 miles a go, everything mechanical is in great condition, car's been really well looked after. All was going well until some tit in a Volvo decided to reverse into the back door and it's been off the road ever since.

It needs new arches which are included (these are like rocking horse excrement, apparently) and sadly the rot has started to go into the sills. I had a look and a poke, anyone who can wield a welder would have that sorted no problem. It's had a new bonnet put on as the old one was tatty, very straight replacement rear door is also with it, as is everything missing from the car in the pictures (rear bumper, jacking point covers, wheel centres etc) and a whole spare engine! Well, most of it anyway, the valves were £70 EACH :shock: new when the engine got done, so it was cheaper just to get a whole new engine from the scrappy and have a couple of valves out of it.

That's way too wordy, so here are the pictures;

Bad points;

Rotten arches, sills starting to go too

Very tatty bodywork, but mostly straight! Will look sweet after a respray

Broken headlight

Good points;

Bloody good, newly rebuilt engine - fired up straight away

Very good Mechanically

Very good interior

It's red

Been looked after properly all it's life, i'm sure there's a load of history upstairs.

Current V5, SORNed

New back box put on just before it came off the road, still looks to be kwality

Comes with all you should need to get it back to it's former glory!

It's red

It'd be GR8 4 DRIFTIN, but it'd be nice to see it go somewhere where it wont end up wrapped around a tree. I think it's too good to get scrapped, someone give it a new life?

Open to all offers :D

And to finish, some more shite which would probably be for sale if you asked nicely/ were brave enough to take on the TR7.

FSO pick up! :shock: We was only talking about Carlton GSi3000's the other day on here, Yours is quite a late one as well on a K plate, Hopefully someone will save it.Oh and welcome. :D

Blimey that FSO is GORGEOUS! Wasn't someone on here after one? What's the FSO and TR7 story then?

Carlton is full of win. I hope someone on here gets it so it doesn't get raped for the engine. Door will probably pull out a bit to tidy it up and I'd imagine a repalcement second hand door wouldn't be too hard to find anyhow.

Welcome :)I'm also in Southend, you might have seen my Austin A35 around?I love the FSO pickup, but the TR7 looks a bit much to take on!Richard. :)

Cheers for the welcome guys!

It's got a spare with it 8) I'm reluctant to put it on the Autobahnstormers (owners club) site as that's exactly what's gonna happen to it, really deserves more than getting ripped apart for a few bits!As for the FSO and the Triumph, i have no idea! Will find out though, i think they've just been sat at the bottom of the yard forever, i got quite excited but the guy who owns the body shop there didn't bat an eyelid! I'll get dad to ask him about it asap :D Dicky; i'm pretty sure i have done! Long shot but did you go to King Edmunds?

I'm also interested in the FSO pick-up! After all, if I'm gonna recover and repair autoshite, I ought to have a suitably autoshite breakdown vehicle... and that looks REALLY suitable....

welcome to the madhouse mate.Nice Carlton, hope someone can save it.Ill put the word out for you.The number plate on that TR7 has got to be worth a few quid id imagine.

Small world! I left last year - go to SEEC now. I remember seeing the Austin in the car park and wanting it :lol: Dad's phoning John about the FSO for all interested today, couldn't get his head around people actually wanting it though haha!

8) The Carlton looks like a good viable project....love the Fizzo, takes me back to when I was on YTS at a Mazda dealer...they sidelined in Fiats and FSOs.I remember doing hundreds of headgaskets as there was a re-call to do with an o-ring or seal at the back of the head. I used to have a 125p, it was ace...I took off the badges and the gold side stripes and told everyone it was a Fiat. Had chrome wellers with the centres painted black.....I hope the truck finds a good home. 8)

Seem to remember Mr. Boll had a thing for these.

Just got off the phone to mon pere, he's spoken to John about it who apparently laughed and said you're a strange bunch of people :lol: That and the TR7 are both owned by some guy called Mervin (what a name) who has about 30 examples of shite strewn across essex in various lock ups and garages. John's going to ask but doubts any are for sale, apparently he's one of those people who assume that because it's old it's worth a million pounds and is planning on restoring them all :roll:

Skoze, my mate SCTSH_ANDY loves a bit of GSi3000 action, and he'd keep it one piece and perhaps lend it to me to go down the shops.Could you PM me with a price your dad has in mind for it? Realise you might not want to whack it up here. Not a million miles from you either, and he has an A Frame and Discovery too.

Posted

Hey dude, shot you over a PM, 'scuse the wait, been away for the weekend :lol:

Posted

Can you Pm me a price and contact number if the Carlton is still available.

Posted

If the FSO is ever up for grabs, it'll be on here first :lol:
