Mr H Sceptre Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 It really is a small world, get some photos up! By all accounts that car is actually not bad! Will be taking plenty of snaps on Saturday documenting the exchange/journey home/long wait in hard shoulder for AA van/arrival of AA van etc etc.....Thing is, even if the car has 'issues' on the way home, I dont really care. Its all part of the adventure of picking up a lovely old car. This will actually be the first official Autoshite so-called 'Management' tat pick-up that m'colleague Mr Leyland wont have come on (he's currently in Australia), so will stop off an have the traditional pint of Guiness on the way home that has become tradition (dont worry, only one pint & food to soak it up) in his honour.
Minimad5 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 If it is okay with Cavette, i'm going to leave picking up the car ramps untill you pick up the Maxi, then i can meet another member of AS.If not then see you at the summer meet - Best bring the Maxi !

Cavcraft Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I think it ended up being scrapped. I seem to remember Nick had issues with it further down the line, thought can't remember what.
keef Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I think it ended up being scrapped.Yep: engine failure apparently. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Austin.Maxi/permalink/10156699742180655/
Timewaster Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Is this the really early 1500 that turned up at one of the Stondon visits? Shame.
Dick Cheeseburger Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Is this the really early 1500 that turned up at one of the Stondon visits?Shame.Looks like it. Seems a proper waste to scrap it due to engine failure. https://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/sets/72157624914986851/
Cavcraft Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 He tried his best but was a victim of circumstance, what with the engine failure and storage problems I think.
