Because I'm having a Piazza office chair made and no one seems to have one. The bell ends at the local tip won't let me take anything.I need the base with the plate, strut and feet. Ones without castors would be great.Anyone in my local area have one \ about to chuck one out?Exchange for shite magazines \ beer tokens \ bad poems \ etc.

try Freecycle, they tend to turn up on there quite often.

Got a couple at work. Will retrieve one this week and keep hold of it until I can get to a QPark meet or whatever if you want?Probably all got castors on though.

Try your nearest Gumtree, there's a freebies section on every one.

Bollocks, there was one in the gutter at the bottom of my street last night... not there today :(

That sounds good mate. I can come and collect if needs be?

I've got one too..but distance may be a problem, so in the skip with it 8)

When I left work on Thursday there was a suitable donor chair in one of the skips. No sign of the chair today, but there is an exercise bike and kitchen sink complete with taps. Bugger this exercise and washing up let's go for a sit down instead.

Odd thread this but I also could do with a replacement base for a chair as one of the five 'legs' on mine has been broken for 3 years! all bound up with gaffer tape... it's OK until I lean back! It's I tall 'draghtsman' chair/stool with a longer length gas lift column and a foot rest/ring thing but it's only the base I'm after.I don't think it's any wider than the normal shorter chairs so wondering if you might have one whitevanman as I'm only an hour or so from you i think.

Wat did you get this sorted? Reason being there's another one come up at work today (or rather yesterday now). Castors optional.I'm not at work tomorrow but can phone one of the lads to save it. It's not likely to still be there when I go back on Tuesday otherwise.Chair's in Staffordshire, can happily move it M6 junction 16 if needed.

Got a few leads but nowt concrete. If you could save me the one without castors, that'd be minty - o. I could journey up the M6 on Saturday provided the weird whooping noise coming from my front OS wheel isn't terminal.Cheers chap.

 You should make a batch of them !

Have you seen my welding?! It's like pigeon squits in wire form.My mate (a professional machinist \ fabricator) is making it up for me. His last project was a 3.9 L V8 Vauxhall Chevette. So one Piazza didn't die in vain. :D

I'll get it reserved in the morning no problem. No hurry to collect it can sit in my house / building site. It probably won't actually be in my possession until next week unless a mate will drop it off though.

Going to a gig at Manchester Oxford Road on Wednesday 28th April (probably arriving around 8ish), so could drop it there if still needed. Less miles for you that way.

Merde, I could do that.

Back at work on Tuesday. Someone there has promised to save it for me. Will stash back at my crumbling hovel until next month. If I'm in the Manchester area before I'll give you a shout 8)

cheers! I managed to get the base off the grubby, shit-o-matic one that lives in the garage. Swapped it over - it actually doesn't totally fit right as the taper of the column of one base was a little different to the other but it seems to be staying in if a little higher than before. Also, as I type, my car is locked in a car park all weekend due to a misunderstanding of closing times (i.e. there was no fakkin sign!)Thanks anyway

I have a chair with 5 legs and no castors just feet. It is not hydraulic but on a screw thread. There is also a foot bar al around the base that is adjustable up and down the main tube.I think it is a musicians chair more than anything.if interested I can get it to Chadderton area for you to pick up.

Have you any idea how it is played ? I mean, do you hold it up like a set of bagpipes, and blow down each leg ?? More to the point, what does it sound like ??? Have you blown down the Main Tuba sucesssfullly?

I would think twice about parting with such an unusual instrument, could be an antique ! I think the adjustable footbar (around the bass?) is something to raise or lower the key an octave or two 8) .

Sounds like a lot of fun to me........
