Mega obscure pastashite tank

Recommended Posts

I've just bought this months 'Gazoline', theres a very handsome saloon car on the cover, an Alfa 2600 Berlina. Now I always thought these were a right fugly old tank (of course, I would still love to own one and drive around in it every day, continually welding and cobbling it along, fitting parts off other Alfas to keep it alive at minimal cost):

turns out this thing i'm looking at is a version rebodied by OSI, the gang responsible for these:

Here it is:

Pretty smart eh? Cant find much info out about it, which only increases its appeal, here is one owned by a german alfa club member though, which somhow looks a bit more gawky than the brochure pic:

Apparently they only made about 50 of them. Theyre seemingly not mega sought after, but are so rare its impossible to make up some sort of 'guide price', i'm sure it would be too much for me anyway. Having said that, if I won the lottery and decided to spend £4k, i might get lucky and find a knackered one somewhere perhaps.

I love mega obscurities like these, I will read the Gazoline thing and report back any interesting info.

Here is a link to some other OSI efforts:

I tip a hat to your obscurity-uncovering skills.

When I opened the thread I thought you were going to be talking about the 2300 Berlina, a Brazilian bloated Alfetta based on the old 1900:

Hmm, I remember reading an appeal in PC from some geezer who was gasping to get one of those 2300's, finally he imported a shonky one from Brazil, then found a better one in the UK amazingly. SO the shonky one went off to an enthusiast in holland. This may be total rubbish as its a distant memory.

They went to an awful lot of effort to distance it from the regular 2600, it almost looks like a completely different car - quite a pretty and forward-looking one. Nice find.

Ive never seen these before, it really is a very nice looking car, shame theres only 50 though

Is it just me or have the first two pictures now f***ed off?

Wow, that's a new one on me. Interesting too, not unattractive, but not pant-spaffingly hot either.

I nicked the pics and put em in my bucket for safe keeping.

Doesn't the side profile look a lot like the NSU Ro80?

Not to me, but thats just what the Gazoline article says too. Apparently there are 11 survivors, 8 in italy, 2 in Germany, and one here! I wonder if the UK one will pop its head above the parapet. I bet if anyone has a lead on it, it will be Buckley I imagine.

You've stumbled across another of my absolute dream cars Mr B, love the obscure saloon just like you. Classic & Sportscar did a Case History on one of these which turned up in a car lot up north in the eighties - unfortunately I can't find my copy or I would have scanned and posted it. It was a bit scabby but was ridiculously cheap; I remember emailing the Alfa 2000/2600 register man a few years back who thought it had been scrapped shortly after, so maybe another one has surfaced or been imported. I'm always collecting photos of this sort of stuff - do you have a larger image of the silver one at the club meet?
