Stuff from the pitch - updated to include more Esperos!!!!

Found a lot of advertising shots of cars from my old pitch recently, and whlist it was no obscurity supermarket, I did manage to get some oddboys in and amongst all the 206s, Escorts and Vectras.

Although on a few it looks as though I am incapable of getting a car fully in-shot, I`ve actually cropped a few of them down to try and keep the location a fun mystery! Yes, that`s the reason for cropping them, to make it a fun mystery.

Majority are from 2006-2008 so a lot of these did have to wait for the right man to come along. Just thought it might be nice for you all to see some of your favourites with cheap polish, bumper gel and tawdry stickers slapped all over them.

Used to get a lot of stuff from a Peugeot dealer, hence some really nice 405s:

This was lovely, the only 605 I ever had. 2.0 SRTi petrol, auto, grey leather. It was my company smoker for a while.

So was this:

This Belmont had 50,000 from new, drove like new and had an amazing interior, really wanted to get it looking nice but that paint just would not come back, we actually blew a buffer up trying. Sold it to a guy who said he was going to rat look it, but saw him in it a year later and he hadn`t.

This was mint:

This was a strange week:

Rare 1.6, as crisp looking as you`d expect:

Not everything got covered in cheap chemicals bought from a van, these were £200 a piece, sold as-is. Toledo was a Diesel with only 60,000, but the longest fail-sheet I`d ever seen.

Let`s finish for now on a nice Sierra:

More to come....

Wow, great topic for a thread! Some really nice cars, obviously I like the Sierra the most....Slightly off topic, I remember getting those free car ad mags from supermarkets ages ago, and always looking at the ones for £125, £100 etc, obviously a sign of things to come.

Some real gems there man, pity theres not much stock like that in car lots now,up here anyway. What are those 605 like, they look great.

I haven't seen a Seat Toledo for ages - they must be nearly as rare as a Lonsdale by now! When they were new, I used to earn beer money delivering the Seat press fleet to journalists for a mate's half-arsed transport company in Kent. To ensure they looked something like tolerable, I had to wash each car by hand then dry it with a chamois just before dropping it off. That was fun, using cold water in a petrol station at 6am. Toledos were a much nicer drive than Ibizas and Malagas though - my heart used to sink when I got the call to deliver an Ibiza up to some exotic location like Cleethorpes or Warrington; a 4am start in an underpowered car with a bus-like driving position wasn't much to look forward to. The same kind of trip in a Toledo was almost tolerable and they were absolute rocket ships by comparison.

Thought we`d start where we left off, with another nice Sierra, tell you what brammy, if you liked that other one, you`d have liked this - fitted with a 2.0 twink in 1995 at a Ford dealer, bill in the glovebox for something like 2 grand, still badged up as a 1.8LX, though:

Another company smoker, 2.9 Scorpio, great cars but I think we all appreciate that on here by now so no need for me to go on about it.

Posted Image

This was on the V5 as an XS but the wing decals said XT, what`s with all this pretending you car is slightly less powerful than it is? It was great, I can tell you that, I can`t see how the GTi could possibly be any more enjoyable to drive, this thing was addictive.

Couple more Volvos:

And some other stuff. Getting fed up of captioning everything. Although I will say that the Carina had to be reduced twice more before it found an overjoyed new owner.

Next time: Turmoil as the entire pitch disappears into an endless yawning chasm. Or maybe just some more pictures of difficult-to-sell, unwise purchases looking awkwardly placed amongst a load of Corsas `n` Micras.

Yep, I do like that Sierra! Did the original owner get the conversion done? Somewhat bizzare to do that if it was a different owner, obviously I cant remember what the 2.0 was worth compared to the 1.8 at the time, surely not an amount to warrant a 2 grand job!

Hey I never saw "ONE OWNER OWNER" in the cling-sticker drawer! I feel like I've missed out, then again there was still "RUSTPROOFING" and "5-SPEED".Nice job on the numberplate spacing on the Carina II.

I remember going through everything at the time and not being able to fathom it out, the only viable explanation I could think of was that the engine croaked just of of warranty, and the owner thought he may as well treat himself. The mileage was 90,000, backed up by history. It gets weirder though, this turned out to be an absolutely brilliant example, drove like new, needed a brake pipe for the test and the paint buffed up like new. Interior also as new with an uncracked dash, yet the car had been stood for 2 years when I bought it, if it looks dull in the pic, that`s because it was at first. Who would leave a car like that stood?

Some nice ones there Vic.Whats the story with your pitch...?

I'm on the hunt for a 323 same as that red one in the background if anyone hears of one for sale. Must be a proper low mileage minter though.

Those Seat Toledo saloons were a fugly looking thing.

Nice thread..

This pic/car looks really familiar - either it's been on here before, or I was thinking about enquiring about it:

Vic will probably be around at some point to tell you of his love for the BG 323 hatchback. The 3-door ones seem incredibly rare compared to the 5-door 323F and even the 4-door 323.Pondered a 1.8 GTi one off eBay recently, bet that would have been a right monster! They go well enough with a 1.3.

Enjoying the thread! A 205 XS is quite high on my want list.

Great news that the Sierras are still around!

If you can sort out a time machine ratdat, I can help you with a nice BG323 no problem:

The one above is the same one that`s next to the Sierra, after a couple of dents were sorted by a bloke who then went on to colour code the back bumper fillet, but just that one, left the others Black. Didn`t stop it selling though. When you get one, I guarantee you will not regret it.

The BG 4-door actually had different wings and bonnet to the 3 door, but you can`t really tell by looking...WHY?

Posting the Grey one is a cop-out, as it`s mine, but it did sometimes pose as stock if I had a few gaps:

Another nice Scorpio:

This 309 had 50,000 genuine and was unbelievably mint, like a new car. Also one of the last cars sold by me from there, in 2008:

More to come still, some of it quite good but we`ll be getting down to the dregs eventually, so enjoy the fact that I haven`t started on the Mk6 Escorts yet while you can.

That rubbishy pixellated photo doesn`t really do the 309 justice, here it is again:

This must have been one of the most unspoilt 405s around in 2008:

Couple of nice Carltons:

More Crisp Bertone styling:

This one had a weird passenger ejector seat:

Reasonable Maxi:

These were both in stock at the same time, that can`t happen often:

Mintness hasnt stopped some moron from weighing the 309 in. Its no longer on the dvla database. Black carlton lives on but the tidier looking burgundy one does not.

Posted

Loving the ejector seat 8) must try and get one

Posted

That's weird about the 309, I'd be very surprised if it's been weighed in though - we actually saw it in a supermarket car park only a few months ago and it was still mint. DVLA is just saying "not found" which is unusual, probably just a bit of an oddity on their database.

Posted

its almost a dead cert its a goner when you get the not found message.. if you scrap a car in one of the "end of life vehicle authorised treatment centres" these days they physically remove the car from the database rather than leaving it on as unlicensed. Most modern yards do this now.. certainly anything i've scrapped in the last few years.Only other possibility is its had a number plate change...

Posted

I`m just happy any of this stuff is still around, if the 309 has gone, well it had at least April 2008 to January 2010 courtesy of me, believe it or not I bought it from a scrap man who had been given it to weigh in, it had no MOT and a knackered battery, and a whole £80 later both those issues had been addressed and it was like a new car.Good news about the Black Carlton, although to be fair it was just as good as the other one, it just never got a chance to be ponced up, it sold so quickly it went as it came. Carltons were a weird comeback kid as far as pitches went, great news in 2008 but when I started out in 2003 you`d really struggle to get anyone into one.
