Looking at houses for sale I came across this !

Agent's description... the rustic character of this house is outstanding with it's stained floors....stained by what ?

For some reason there were no internal pics

But I did like the back yard

PERFECT!That's the sort of place that I dream of. Sadly anything like that around here is sold as "OMG Development potential!!!1! £1,500,000 (ono)" and is promplty flattened to make way for 8 executive homes with postage-stamp gardens (OIEO £495,000)

Why do they do that? All these lovely old places just turned to crap - it's so mindless (I know, it's profitable of course - quick profit, long term loss).

My daughter went to buy a house on Teesside last week. Going by the photo's and the blurb it was exactly what she needed and had sold it to herself in advance.Reality was a little different and it was in dire need of renovations that would far and away exceed the purchase price. The roof had fallen in, among other things, no mention of which in the brochure and the property bore only passing resemblance with the photo's.

That's weird. I took this on impulse today; it's just around the corner from me. Makes me sad to see a cool old building in such a state. Before someone set fire to it (can anyone smell insurance fraud?) it probably could have been rescued. In an affluent neighbourhood it would be worth a fortune but no doubt it will be a constant eyesore for the next ten years then be bulldozed to make way for some poky flats.

I'd wager that the fire happened after an initial planning application was refused. Happens ALOT, then once it's a dangerous eye-sore the plans are re-submitted and they get passed. Amazing how these coincidences happen again and again.

Right, I'm coming over. *packs*

Pogweasel arrives in the coldest, wettest, windiest and closest part of this tropical island to antarctica.Next time check out the LOCATION

Pfft. Can it be colder, wetter and windier than it is here at the minute?I think I am still thawing/drying out from getting battered by the elements last week.I did check the location, also found two firms doing what I do nearby, then remembered my passport is out of date...

I've had this same, very depressing situation countless times of late. House looks great on Rightmove, so you ring agent and arrange viewing. Go to view, can't find house, eventually find a house with the appropriate For Sale sign that looks a bit like the one in the pictures just not as nice. Realise it is the same house. Realise you are wasting your time.

It saddens me that all those stained glass tulip windows are still chucked away so frequently  STUNO, you need to go and offer to clear the garage prior to the sale as a service for which you are willing to be paid only a small quantity.

Here's another; spotted on holiday in Devon. I think it must be about to fall into the sea. Grounds are home to an extremely decrepit Allegro and two Scimitars that I'll post in a spots thread if I ever get around to it.

Another gem. Love the description of how to find the bedroom :D And nirvana..a long drop toilet, no need to flush.http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-prope ... 276894.htm

I'd love to live somewhere like that in the middle of nowhere. And it's less than £41,000. I'm going to have to put that site into my favourites - it might just give me the motivation I need to turn my vague project of maybe emigrating to NZ one day into something more concrete...

all of those are way out of my €50 budget :lol::lol:

It dont matter , I like it, but the lawn is too big so will have to pass it up.No photo because it happened too fast....I stopped at traffic lights yesterday and saw the ultimate in autohiteness, a Porsche towing a caravan. Clarkson and May are here somewhere and I wondered if they were doing some private touring!just to set your minds at rest, the Porche was a 924.
