overheadvalve Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fiat-126-Bis-Long-Mot-Water-Cooled-Lancia-engine-/220812093594?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item33696d289a Do like these, they are getting very appealing at the moment. this is the 126 Bis and she is the one with a Lancia water cooled engine Hadn't realised it was a Lancia engine! which makes her the sporty one of the range Not sure that this isn't stretching reality a little! I was bored, what can i say. I knew i would get a reply but i was hoping for a little more to be honest........My Ebay message:Dear old_autos,Hi,I feel i ought to point out that it is in fact a FIAT engine, it's made in Poland and is not much at all to do with Lancia, infact it has nothing to do with Lancia other than Lancia are another FIAT owned company. Sorry but for some reason i thought i'd better mention it.Regards. The reply:Hi,It says LANCIA in BIG writing across the top of the engine, I can only tell you what it saysThanksPaul - old_autos
flat4alfa Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I'm sure you're just taking the BIS, but the engine was stamped Lancia. Because Lancia/Autobianchi jobbed the design. Maybe some bright spark at the Desio plant shone? FSM built the things though. A nice little old lady next door to my Mum bought one new. How we were surprised when she showed us the Lancia stamp on the engine. It went in for oil leaks within the first few weeks though. But she kept that years. Go on, buy it
M'coli Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 In Wigan. Which is close to Cheshire. Someon in Cheshire has recently aquired a Croma, which shares its floorpan with these beasties. Can you see the potential there?

Rod/b Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Still reckon it would be better in an early Saab 9000 with flat white paint and those shiny metal wheeltrims they had.
pompei Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Pity that 126 BIS doesn't have a stamp on the engine saying 'Lancia by Ferrari' ...
alf892 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 This look like a cheap old Mazda.........worth the £100 to get him to test it too http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-MAZDA-323-GL ... 256572c2f3
KruJoe Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C237500Blimey, that looks clean. Oh.
mattblack Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Chevette ... 27bc95ced0 I bought this car as a restoration project but due to lack of time and knowledge, I am not able to complete it.
Luxobarges_Are_Us Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Er, it's in a breaker's yard? "o/s wing damage". I can't see much (but which side is the O/S on a LHD car driving on the left?). There could be money to be made by exporting it to an enthusiast on the continent. Edited to add autoscout link for comparison. http://www.autoscout24.eu/Details.aspx?id=bj1snhnmi2ba
Polystratus Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Er, it's in a breaker's yard? Noted that too in eBay bargins thread - had a mangled 2CV (Also subjected to the wash treatment)
Alexg Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1988-LADA-RIVA-L- ... 3cb9ef5755This car was designed and made by the same people who made German tanks during the war
Cavcraft Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Pehaps they should have used Ladas when they foolishly tried to invade Russia then?
Negative Creep Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Is it not an Italian design? Feel free to add a "1 forward and 5 reverse speed gearbox" joke here
mattblack Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 This car was designed and made by the same people who made German tanks during the war Good to see someone has a grasp of world history... In other news... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1930-Rolls-Royce- ... 27bc95303d How EPIC would it be to rock up to a show in this?
eddyramrod Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1930-Rolls-Royce- ... 27bc95303d How EPIC would it be to rock up to a show in this? Somehow you just KNOW that parts prices for an 80-year-old Rolls Royce are going to make VAG bits look like car-boot bargains!
George-Roper Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... ead=106739 Looks like a fookin bargain
dollywobbler Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Aye. A bargain I failed to convince the wife that it was worth snapping up. Perhaps Scooters will get it!

dollywobbler Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Hmmm. Would it be lunacy to own TWO VM engined wonder machines? Yes. Especially as this one seems a bit crusty...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1984-ROVER-2400S- ... 0814041189
